Pussycat Dolls Releases The Giddiest Hour Of The Year. AND Get Prince-ish! I read a recent review of PCD's latest in People magazine and they ran off the familiar litany as to why we shouldn't pay attention to the gals (Corporate project, no definable personalities blah blah) but one wonders if they even listened to the album, for PCD has put out probably the best hour you'll spend with your cd player this year so far.
What fun, from the trashy, materialistic, bratty boasts of "When I Grow Up" to the robo-pop Kylie shtick of "Bottle Pop" to bobblehead waggers like "What'cha Think About That", this monster never stops. They even let another member sing this time, and she doesn't embarrass herself! But the main hold up, wait a minute moment comes with "In Person", their Minneapolis throwback jam that would make Prince proud, or at least coax a booty-call hook up with any member for future collabs. It's that good. People magazine states that the lack of individual personality is a main drawback for the group, but I say they miss the point. PCD is too flighty a concept for such high concept thinking. Putting THAT muchg thought into it is dangerous to the whole enterprise. The Spice Girls could do that and make it work. With PCD who cares??? I like this whole second generation Destiny's Child thing they're doing. There's just something endearing about head-wagging, finger popping, oh-no-you-didn't-isms that never go out of style. They might not have the vocal gymnastics of DC3, but they have the energy, sass and gaudy fashion sense to make it all go down easy. Listen to "In Person". You WON'T be disappointed! http://www.youtube.com/wa...DBYs3iK8Q4

I love The Pussycat Dolls, the trash, the materialism and the girly banter.
They are the coolest girl group since TLC. I don't care if they can't sing as well as Beyonce's Child they just make good materialistic pop music, they way good pop music should be made. People mag got it wrong. Bottle Pop.....Yum [Edited 10/18/08 0:52am]

That song really has nothing to do with what most would associate with Prince's sound.

You WON'T be disappointed! http://www.youtube.com/wa...DBYs3iK8Q4 My exact feeling on the album and the feeling i had when i read the review. First of all, i dont think people realize that REVIEWERS dont listen to the albums, they take a lyric sheet and bio and listen to about 20-30 seconds of each song, and then write a review write after it. I dont know about anyone else but when i listen to an album i need to listen to the whole thing a few times in depth before i can give an opinion. ALSO i never understood why anyone would read a review by anyone but a fan of an artist. I mean i want an honest opinion and a loyal fan will always give you the most in depth review of an artist. The review in people started with the line "the pussycat dolls are not band they are a brand" jesus, nice catch phrase, but who thought they were a band? they are a group, just like Destinys Child and others are, Metallica is a band. As for the songs, its a great fun album with tracks like "whatchamacallit" and "bottle Pop" and "in person" and great ballads like "i hate this part" and "happily never after". but of course the usual basis for reviews and opinions are that not each girl sings, well that just proves u didnt listen to the new record, each girl has their part of every song but 2, more than any other girl group in a long time. not to mention the deluxe edition with a bonus cd with each girl at the helm and also the import version which has the GREAT tracks "perhaps perhaps perhaps" which is a very loungey song like "Sway" and also the track "lights camera action" with NKOTB. As for "In person" its a great jam that i liked from day one listen one. Its actually the first Timbaland production where you DONT KNOW its him, he doesnt interfere with his announcement. And the girls go nuts on the track, this song was done with all around a mic, with almost no re-takes in the studio, basically direct to the master copy. And also nice little homage to Tina Turner in the song.....which should always be mentioned [Edited 10/18/08 6:19am] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

That song is not prince ish in the least...rubbish Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
