Joyce Sims Any fans out there? Well, if not, take a listen to her and see how you like her. I used to hear "All and All" and "Come Into My Life:", two of her biggest hits, on the radio pretty often and they are catchy. It's hard to describe her music but it's definately dance poppy R&B with a hip-hop and New Jack influence. But the production of her songs combined with her vocal performance is kind of off but almost on purpose, like jazz! The layers in a song like "Lifetime Love" are amazing. Her voice isn't the best but it's damned good and her songwriting is fine as well. Her first album, "Come Into My Life", is a damn near masterpiece and I've heard some of the stuff from her second and that ain't bad either! It's almost in a league of it's own. It's not as flashy as majorly commercial stuff like kind of dance pop that the biggies Janet or Madonna, but it's something really different and cool. I definately look forward to checking out more from her. All four of these are from her first album. Sadly not great videos.

Cinnie said: It's a great R&B track. On the album, it's nearly 8 minutes long! While the album only has 7 proper tracks (and a remix of "All and All" which I didn't bother to put on my MP3 player), many of them are pretty long. "All and All" is over 6 mins. while "Lifetime Love" is about 6 and a half. Talk about riding the groove (someone here once said that expression to me when I complained that the tracks on "Janet Jackson" just let the music play to long). I think "Lifetime Love" is my favorite right now. "All and All" is the jam. Of the proper seven tracks, only "Love Makes A Woman" isn't great and it's a cover song. It just tries a bit too hard with the Motown sound but updated. Joyce saves it a bit with her performance. I actually only have the album on LP (a steal at $2) and am listening to the MP3's via Napster. I'll probably get the CD soon.

Since I found it for only $2 at Record Time, I doubt it is rare (although I think they're prices on vinyl might be lower than most). I also saw the CD at a place, too (almost bought it but thought the price was too high...luckily I found the vinyl on my next stop). Sample the tracks. You might really love it. The other songs are more danceable, though.

No more love for Joyce Sims? At least Cinnie knows something to look for on his next vinyl dig, right?
