Remember back in 1989-92, everyone had some kind of 'Conscious' record? Remember back in the day on radio and TV you'd hear 'Conscious' music, you know, music about society, discrimination, the environment, political awareness, etc. It seemed like in pop culture, every album had at least 1 or 2 conscious songs. Songs like:
Fight The Power Ladies First / Queen Latifah & Monie Love Heal The World Rhythm Nation Express Yourself, NWA Don't Curse / Heavy D & The Boyz This House Self-Destruction We're All In The Same Gang Right Now / Van Halen Let's Talk About Sex, Salt N Pepa Name your favorite 'Conscious' singles or albums from 1989 - 1992.

Not sure what the years are but I do miss:
Professor X X Clan- To the East Blackwards Lakim Shabazz LaQuan Isis Tashan Tupac - 2pacalypse now Arrested Development While we are at it. Do you think it was a conspiracy that these records didn't flourish at all? Where would we be if conscious rap was "permitted" to evolve? I guess we was cool as long as it was afrocentric. But I believe when Public Enemy came out with "Fight The Power" that scared AmeriKKKa. They didn't need a Black Power movement. I mean, I was really feeling the whole stop the violence, feel the love, back to Africa vibe and then all of a sudden: STRAIGHT OUT OF COMPTON! It was a wrap then. It's been damn near 15 years and rap has went straight gutter trash. I mean mainstream rap in general. Upper persuasion for the lower invasion
