MM, I'm actually keen to hear your thoughts on this. Some questions in advance:

Thanks!! Looking forward to your breakdown - don't mind the loons here. lol

Oh, I won't. My thread won't be for the benefit of the loons. The loons will talk loudest on the thread, but I don't expect to convert them or anything. My mind will be on the realists, who will be sitting back silently, and going.... hmmm. Some will recognise the truth instantly, but for more of them it will be a seed planted that will take root and grow in their minds before they finally come to see for themselves what is so obvious.

Oh and by the way, your questions already illustrate some of the naive misconceptions about these songs which I will be sledge-hammering in due course. Don't forget to tune in and get your schooling. Free of charge. thumbs up!

This guy is basically going to state all these songs allude to Michael being a kiddie fiddler.

MM, I'm actually keen to hear your thoughts on this. Some questions in advance:

1. When you were co-writing Billie Jean with Mike did you tell him to tone down the misogynist lyrics?

2. Who really came up with that Billie Jean bass line - you or Mike?

3. When you guys were chilling in the studio did MJ ever talk about women? If so, what he say?

4. How did you feel when he gave you the call to co-write Dirty Diana?

5. Does he give a breakdown of the idea for a song - in terms of lyrical content? Like: "This song's about a filthy hussy I met backstage once. Here's a demo now come up with some ideas..."

5. Did you write the Dirty Diana chorus? I think it's mind-blowing.

6. Heartbreak Hotel - you too?

Thanks!! Looking forward to your breakdown - don't mind the loons here. lol

Another group called Clubhouse did "Do It Again/Billie Jean" the same year that Slingshot did. They did the same thing Slingshot did by combining Billie Jean and Steely Dan. I like Slingshot's version better than Clubhouse's though.

Was their version really different from the SlingShot version? How can you tell them apart?

I'm surprised so many of you have never heard it lol In my area, our local R&B played this song ALOT during the summer of '83.They would play MJ's "Billie Jean" first, then follow it up with the answer record.Hearing both songs back to back,it was up to listener to decide who was lying and who was telling the truth, lol.

Answer records were very popular in the 80s.I remember the answer record to Oran 'Juice' Jones' 1986 hit "The Rain".That one was hilarious lol

For some reason I can't stand answer songs though Club Nouveau's "diss" to the Timex Social Club in "Jealousy" was cool.

Wasn't Jay King a part of Timex Social Club? Did he produce their album? What's the story behind their apparent falling out?

The music on both of them sounds almost identical. Clubhouse's version doesn't have as many vocals on it as Slingshot's version.

Jay's ego is what kept Club Nouveau from having long-term success. In 1987,at the height of Club Nouveau's popularity,Madonna asked them to be the opening act on her 'Who's That Girl' tour.....a record-breaking,massive world tour which played huge stadiums throughout the world. It would have exposed Club Nouveau to their biggest audience ever.A week before it was to begin,Jay pulled out of the gig, saying "Madonna doesn't need us,and we don't need Madonna"

nuts not surprisingly,Club Nouveau quickly faded away after that career misstep lol

I remember when she had the Beastie Boys open for her. I'm from New York and I had never heard of them before that. This was before, I think, any of their radio hits.

Opening up for a headliner is never a bad idea, even if you get pelted by rocks and garbage. Look what it did for Prince...

Well, I won't be saying anything it took a genius to figure out, but obvious things often go unsaid with Michael, for one reason. Because he is not taken seriously by intellectuals he has never really had any serious book written about him. He has never had his work analysed in the way that Bob Dylan, The Beatles, etc. have. Therefore there are huge points which haven't really been made and probably haven't even occurred to most people. Even Madonna in the early '90s had loads of academics studying her. Michael has never had that, because most highbrows see him as a kiddie artist. After he dies you might get some serious studies done on the man and his work, but so far there haven't been any, which is why my insights will seem incredible to you although they're really just common sense. It's no ego, son. Just clear thinking. Stay tuned. I'll try and get round to it sometime this week.

Dude, in 1990 they were studying Madonna at Harvard University. It's hard to believe now, but there was a period when some dumb-ass academics tried to talk about her as if she actually had some substance. MJ has never received that kind of attention.
