As Honey showed us, the vibe for part 2 will be more polished, soulful, and understated. I think the two need to be put together for each individual part to make sense. Honey was my least favorite aspect of this album, so a sincerly hope part 2 will not be 10 more songs in that same vein. but otherwise I LOVE this album If you will, so will I

Oh, j'adore New Amerykah!
This album was a huge surprise - way beyond my expectations. The Cell, Soldier, Honey, Me, That Hump and The Healer are all some of my fave jams this year! The only song I'm not crazy about is "My People". This is my voice, my weapon of choice!

I hated this album! Threw it in the trash.

Telephone, Honey and That Hump are gems and the best tracks, imo.

I haven't listened in a while, but I still think it's her best album. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

This record has got to be my single most favorite of the year. No other album has moved or grooved me the way this one did.
Erykah upped the ante with the whole concept of the record and spoke the god honest truth about a lot of issues. Everytime I put the album on, I hear something new. I think that is what makes it so special. Lyrically and sonic-wise, I think this would have to be her most complex, progressive-sounding album. I remember when I first popped this disc in the system, I didn't know what to make of the lyrics of most of the songs until I read the interesting liner notes to the album. And finally, the production knocked me out. Hands-down! The Cell has got to be one of the funkiest joints I've heard in a long time. Now I await Nu Amerykah Part Two until November.... Check me out and add me on:

that was one of my favs at first listen I used to sing the hook: "dumma deem dime-ah noo nay nickel bag coke to the brain" ROTFL (this was, of course, before the album came out) because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I love this album. Amerykahn Promise is SO funky. It is PURE, spelt with the P of P-funk. This is in my top 5 of this year. Probably number two, just behind the new Grace Jones. Or with the roar of Roy Ayers Music Project, yes it is so funky. I'm looking forward to Return of the Ankh..supposedly Nov.24th.

Totally agree with this CD being the best release of the year. Even though I first had mixed feelings about it, it is the ONLY album I actually bought this year simply because most other releases sucked. Erykah Badu´s albums are always a must-buy for me. This one is probably her most diverse record and not that easy to get into, it takes some while to digest but I still love it. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
