According to the Mirror, Ritchie, 40, said: "I just wanted a regular husband and wife thing. But it was always a great song and dance just to do ordinary stuff. "She's obsessed with her own public image, obsessed with being seen as some kind of global soothsayer. "It's silly, she's a pop star. And some of the advisors around her, some of whom have gone, made it impossible for us to have a semblance of a normal life. "I want to be able to go about my business and live my life without all the hoopla. Unfortunately, she can't live without all the hoopla. Our marriage was a three-ring circus in the end." Madonna, 50, released a statement on Wednesday announcing that she and her husband Ritchie were to divorce. She had wanted to postpone the divorce announcement until the end of her world tour but Ritchie said that he wanted to end the "charade" now. The British film director has said that he thought he would slip into depression as their relationship began to fall apart but that his wife lost her sense of fun as she began to believe she was on a mission to save the world. He called the star's Kabbalah faith a "weird religion" and said that her religion was a big reason behind the break-up. He added: "There was a time when she used to have a sense of humour about herself. "In the last few years she just got angry. In the end we had no proper family life at all. We were two different people, living two different lives." No settlement has been reached but experts have said that Ritchie is likely to get up to £50 million of the pop star's estimated £300 million. The director of British gangster films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is worth a fraction of that, with generous estimates putting his wealth at £20 million. However, according to The Sun newspaper, Ritchie has told lawyers he wants "not one penny" of Madonna's estimated £300 million fortune. The couple have already made the welfare of their three children - Lourdes, 11, Rocco, seven, and adopted David, two - their priority if, if, *if* guy said this, then they both should pipe down. it's really classless, tasteless, and they have children to consider. lmp 'let loose' plenty about mj. she got a lot of publicity for intimating things and when the press would call her out on it, she'd pull back saying, 'i never saw him do anything inappropriate with children'. if she had anything relevant to say that wasn't self-serving, she should taken her ass to santa maria where the prosecutor had been waiting for ten long years to put mj on trial. but that would have required more courage than she apparently has. it's much easier to get publicity for making negative comments about your ex in the court of public opinion than in actual court where you can be cross-examined. she didn't have a lot of nice things to say about nic cage, either, and like mj, he chose not to engage her publicly. | |

These quotes are made up. This story is tabloid gold and in the absence of real revelations, tabloids will do whatever they have to to keep the story on the front pages. British tabloids are NOTORIOUS for their poor ethics. Tomorrow it will be easier for them since they will have a REAL quote to use, courtesy of Madonna. According to the videos I've seen I think Madonna clearly left Guy and the world a message last night: I'm divorced but I still can have fun (or pretend to have fun), I'm still sexy and sporty and healthy and strong. Not only did she suggest Guy would be "emotionally retarded" but she sang OPEN YOUR HEART!

So Madonna probably feels let down by Guy. i'm sure you're right, but don't you think guy feels that way, too? whatever goes on in a relationship, it takes two to tango. while i hate to quote a woman who also did not have the good taste to keep her mouth shut about her own marriage, the late princess diana said of her marriage to charles: "i'll take half the blame, but i won't take more than that" (or words to that effect). she was absolutely right. whether it's guy/madonna, mj/lmp, brad/jen, ben/jen, on and on, most times it is both people who contribute to the break down in the relationship. most people realize that, and so when they hear one person popping off, bad mouthing the ex, it just leaves a bad taste in their mouths no matter how "juicy" it may be to hear the details. madonna is 50 f-ing years old; you'd think she'd have cultivated a much stronger character and self-respect by now. | |

See, this is exactly my problem with Madonna. I don´t know how to put it, but there are just many people who have much more talent than she does, but never make it that big because they simply do not have the guts to act as if they were the kings of the world. She would get much more respect from me if she did not act "you all should worhip me no matter what I do because whatever I do is actually cool". I do not follow her that much. I´ve just seen few interviews with her, but I never felt that I was actually getting to know her by watching these interviews. She came off always as acting and pretending to me, hardly ever genuine. People may have more talent than the next person but that doesnt mean they have the personality or the IT factor to stay strong in the business and do what THEY want to do. Thats where Madonna is strong. She has continusouldy changed her music style and image with each album and have consistantly been a businesswoman. Both Guy and Madonna have been pretty reluctant to talk about their personal issues in the media in the past. I don't see them publically slagging each other off. | |
