You Sure Love to Ball Appreciation

This has got to be one of the sexiest songs there is and it's my personal theme song. That would make a cool thread wouldn't it? "What's Your Theme Song?" Anyway, as I listen to it, I realize there is more than meets the ear at first listen lyrically.

He tells her "Oooh baby, I'll make you feel so good. Stay with me baby, I'll love you night and day." (Reassuring her that he can keep up with her sexually)

He has met a woman with a robust sexual appetite and is asking her to stay with him, to be with him only:

at the end he says:

pretty little sexy baby
you sure love to ball
(give all your love to me and we'll always be in love) or

"give all your sex to me and we'll always be in love" because everyone knows the work "love" is used to disguise the word "sex" very often in popular music, R&B in particular.

He also seems to express some doubt and then resolution about being with her:

"Oh, I just love you
that's all
I've got my mind made up baby
there's no doubt baby
that you're my foxy lady"

Perhaps he found himself conflicted about being with a woman who "loved to ball" because he feared he wouldn't be able to satisfy her or that her hypersexuality would drive her to stray.

I've listened to this song for years and never truly "got it." Duh.

More than that, I think. He says "Give all your love to me and we'll always be in love". Which I think means "As long as you give ALL your sex to me ONLY, we'll always be in love."

Indeed! Some radio stations wouldn't play this song because of the title. It was considered too risque.

I always enjoyed those songs with a woman moaning in it

You Sure Love To Ball
Come Live With Me
Since I Had You
Love Won't Let Me Wait
Pillow Talk
Love To Love You Baby
Dream Maker
Make Love To Me

I wanted to put Do Me Baby on there but that's not a woman, that's Prince

These are all very sexy. Back then when they did a sexy song, there was still class to it. They finessed the lyrics and the music to convey the sexiness without being vulgar. Today it's like a porn set to music sometimes. LOL! Not that that is bad all the time, but I'd like to see today's artists do more with their so-called sexy songs. Look at Between The Sheets,

Very true and they also used wordplay also. It goes back to old blues records, if the subject matter was about body parts or sexual acts, they didn't just come out and say it like artist (so-called) do today. There's no art in that.

Yes, give me some creativity, some artistry. I like a dirty song here and there sure no problem, but let's mix it up!

Ah, thanks for clearing up what he said in the song, I also thought he said "give up that body", but it's more deeper than that. nod

Love that song. That whole album is fucking brilliant! clapping
