You mean you can actually buy it...In the US? Probably as a very expensive import.

Just in time for the Thanksgiving rush! It's interesting that so many artists either never get a US release OR you have to wait for many months. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...nes_album)

I suppose Contrapposto likes the record then. Is Hurricane different than the earlier leaked version?

OMG, I'm loving this. Contender for album of the year, for sure. Everything you'd want/expect and more.

It is insanely brilliant. I love every track ~ as Gooey said, to listen with headphones ~ ah sublime weekend hurry here. I can already hear the undercurrents on Hurricane through the headset.
Thank you and thank you to the two who made the early listening possible. I'm going to preorder tonight!!!!! Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

I finally had some free time to listen to this album with carefulness.
I usually don't post reviews the week I get the album cuz I like it to sit on me for a little while. And well. I didn't post a review cuz I was initially underwhelmed. Maybe because I expected a completely different album from the lead single. I was expecting it to be much darker, much more electronic, processed. There are only a couple of songs that fit that criteria: Corporate Cannibal Hurricane Devil In My Life The rest is very much more relaxed, acoustic, launge-ish. They are good songs - nice lyrics, nice vocals and good production. A bit weak on the melodies so they blend a bit into one if you dont listen carefully enough. Overall I am a bit disappointed. Definitely not an album of the year. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

According to Amazon in the US, the import is available starting tomorrow for $42. The US version is dated Nov. 15th for $19.
I read the Import has 2 additional tracks. I want to hear this album! Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Do you actually own any of her older stuff? This new album very much follows in her own footsteps; it's an extension of her last albums. Sure, a bit more relaxed, but she's 60-ish. I like them lyrics with the personal touch. I am glad that I always try to NOT get my hopes up one way or the other. Last time I had hopes built up was with the last Kate Bush album and I was vastly underwhelmed with that one. I suppose this happened with you.

But the lead single and video kinda hinted at a more electronic approach. Corporate Cannibal is very interesting, witty, dark. The rest of the album is a bit soppy. But you're right - if you like classic Jones you'll get it with this one. And I own 5 albums by Grace I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Another Grace thread, mostly about "Hurricane":
http://prince.org/msg/8/288632 I got it in my car and thought I would get burnt out on it but nope. I'm kind of a novice (at the same time, I bought "Nightclubbing" and "Warm Leatherette") but I can't imagine she has anything else that is a such a great combo of personal and political with such strong vocals and lyrics. And the music is killer. BTW, there doesn't appear to be any bonus track versions unique to Europe. I paid something like $14.99 and I believe I have an import. It's honestly hard to tell if there is a US release this or not. I thought I was getting the US release but the notes suggested something about outside of the North America. Scored this last week and it's a great record indeed. But that was a given considering it features Sly & Robbie, Brian Eno and the art direction of legendary Banksy.
My fav songs are the first three for some reason??? This Is Williams Blood Corporate Cannibal I was lucky enough to catch Grace along with Sly & Robbie here in Edinburgh as part of the 2003 TripTych Festival. That was one of the greatest live shows I've seen....Sly & Robbie did a set with Black Uhuru first then Grace came out and wowed everyone. It was awesome as after virtually each song Sly & Robbie would jam out a superb Dub while Grace would nip backstage and change into yet another outrageous outfit! Great stuff.....the other show which matched that was Sly & Robbie with Sinead O'Connor. Sinead has the best voice I've heard live by a long shot.
