this album is kicking my ass.

i've been waiting to hear this all year, and now that i finally got to experience it, i am SO HAPPY that it's not a disappointment.

my favorite part of the album so far is the end of "william's blood" (which is a fantastic song, it reminds me of something from lovesexy), followed by the intro to "corporate cannibal". the juxtaposition of the uplifting, soulful, gospel-sounding "william's blood" melting into the pitch black evil satan darth vader bitch funk of "corporate cannibal" is a thing of sheer beauty.

and i don't know what's going on with the title track, but i like it. i don't know whether to dance or to stop, drop and cover, though. lol

how are you all getting copies already??

Well, well well! smile

I'm playing this album like crazy in the last few days and I can say that it's way much better than I ever expected! smile
The Compass Point Sound all over the album, freakin' great songs and Grace still has the voice!!! cool

My personal favourites are:

Love You To Life
Playful bassline, irresistible organ hook, beautifully arranged live strings, atmospheric sound effects, and great background vocals. The best song of the set I think. love

Sunset Sunrise
Carribean feel, very passionate bittersweet melody, very atmospheric and the lyrics are very deep and beautiful! I can clearly imagine myself dancing tango on the cobblestones of Grace's hacienda! lol

This Is Life
A great start for the album. The claps. I'm crazy about the claps. And Grace can do the ragga! lol

I'm Crying (Mother's Tears)
Very deep. It was the first song that slapped me in the face. It reminds me of her classic "ballads" like "Inspiration" or "I've Done It Again"... cloud9

Corporate Cannibal
Well, I'm still crazy about this track since July. I just can't have enough spins of it. Love, love the lyrics, the trip-hop beat, and that sick guitar-solo in the middle. Only one thing that I miss: where the fuck have the cannibal sounds gone? It was a perfect ending! confused

Great, great album! It was worth to wait for almost 20 years. lol
Thank you, Grace! lol

...one more thing: the ending of Devil In My Life gives me shivers! love

A friend of mine saw her at the Massive Attack fest and she was amazing.

Of course we'll hate her when she lets us wait in the rain for two hours and then just does one song, lol

You mean that effect laid down on the beat? Or the rubber duckie at the end? Whoever came up with that he's cool! smile

It's not only at the end. It pops up throughourt the entire song, very softly, though.

i don't like the cover either. but if that's the most disappointing component of the album, i'm not mad at her.
