Sticky and Sweet tour is a huge success---Madonna adds more stadium dates in South America

http://www.ticketnews.com...ber1088351

Pop majesty Madonna is extending her upcoming reign in South America. The singer was initially scheduled to play eight stadium concerts in South America: four in Brazil and two each in Argentina and Chile. Now she has booked 11 stadium concerts in South America: five in Brazil, four in Argentina and two in Chile.Potentially more than 280,000 fans can see Madonna in Buenos Aires.

Until tickets went through the roof in South America, the most Madonna had been booked into a stadium on the Sticky and Sweet Tour was two nights. The concert market in "South America exploded in a fiery insanity," Live Nation Artists CEO of Global Touring and Chairman of Global Music Arthur Fogel told TicketNews.

Madonna's world tour, which had been capped at 55 concerts, now totals 58 shows, which seems to be the final number. The tour will top two million concertgoers and gross around $275 million, making it the sixth biggest grossing tour of all time and with the smallest ammount of shows.Only the Rolling Stones,U2 and the Police have grossed more on a single tour but with far more concerts:

*144 shows,The Rolling Stones,Bigger Bang Tour (2005/07)-$558 million
*133 shows,U2,Vertigo Tour (2008/06)-$389 million
*151 shows,The Police,Reunion Tour (2007/08)-$350 million
*128 shows,The Rolling Stones,VooDoo Lounge Tour (1994/95)-$320 million
*121 shows,The Rolling Stones,Licks Tour (2002/03)-$312 million

*17 shows,Madonna,Sticky and Sweet Tour European Leg (2008)-$117 million
*58 shows,Madonna,Sticky and Sweet Tour entire tour-est. (2008)-$276 million

Madonna just wrapped up one of the most successful runs in European concert history with 17 concerts in 16 cities (Paris,FRA was the only city hosting multiple nights),grossing $17.6 million. The largest single-night gross was $11.8 million in London;the lowest was $3.5 million in Budva. All but one show was reported a sellout by LiveNation to the trades:Sevilla,SPA,sold 80.5 percent of the house.

A fan claims to have spoken with Guy Oseary (Madonna's manager) at one of the recent shows. This fan asked about a possible Re-Invention Tour DVD."We're working on it",Oseary replied.

According to this fan,Oseary also mentioned that Madonna wants to end her tour in January, playing several dates in.....AUSTRALIA! Nothing has been confirmed yet,so take it with a grain of salt (for now).

hmmm

lol I doubt that it's gonna happen, but it would be great if it did. It's shameful the way she neglects her Australian fans on every tour.

She knows she's wronged her Aussie fans - she said so on her last tour. I think she's doing it because they love Kylie more.

I love it - very simple yet cool idea to have a month per era. They could have chosen some better shots for say Erotica and The First Album, but i dig the calendar all the same.

What I hate about her calendars is....it's the type of calendar that only lists the dates of the month. It doesn't have the square "box" where you can write what you need to do that day, what bills are due that day,etc mad

Those calendars annoy me.I may still buy this one though...just for the pictures razz If they sell this at the concert,I'll go ahead and pick one up.

Kind of interesting that they skipped 1990-91, the Dick Tracy/Breathless/Blonde Ambition/Immaculate/Justify era that most fans would consider a great time in Madonna history (and she was looking awesome, too). Much better than the last few with the super crazy art shots. I also don't like the way the actual dates are set up, but what are you going to do? Half the time I hardly use my calendar and sometimes when I move back to my parents for the summer (which I will probably not be doing again, I hope) I take it with me and forget to hang it up. But this looks like a keeper!
