I'm razzin you guys I have zero experience with Roxy Music so I'm not moved by the original because the remake is the original to me. And I do have problems relating to male POV in music, which is why the vast majority of my music collection is by females because they say the things I feel better than men. For the most part anyway. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I don't even know he had a solo career Now you're going to force me to go back and listen to the song to see if I hear what you hear : Wait, are you saying that Brian Ferry was never with Roxy Music? Where did I read that? Why did I think that was so? :research: . [Edited 11/20/08 13:07pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I am not a big fan of Roxy Music, neither do I follow Ferry's solo-career.....however this song is golden and should not be touched. I love Roisin Murphy, and I can separate her solo-work very easily from her stuff with Moloko.....yet her rendition of this song does nothing for me.

Great synthpop!
The Goldfrapp remix of Depeche Mode is freaky. That may be my favorite.

1. Depeche Mode - Pain That I'm Used To (Goldfrapp Remix) - Wow. Goldfrapp really made this song their own. And because of that, is there any way I can't love it? With all the effects on Dave Gahan's vocals, this could very well be a cover recorded entirely by Goldfrapp themselves instead of a remix. My favorite, yes indeed.
2. Yazoo - Nobody's Diary (Extended Version) - I have this 12". I always liked the extended version more than the original, especially the way the beat comes in midway through the first verse. 3. Fangoria - Elecricistas - This is some hardcore synthpop right here bordering on EBM. This song could be played in goth clubs in between VNV Nation and Covenant. 4. The Gift - Driving You Slow (Live) - The androgynous vocals remind me of Placebo. I hear a little of bit of Yazoo here too. Nice chorus. 5. Hercules and Love Affair - You Belong (Radio Edit) - This song recalls underground house music from the late 80s/early 90s. I think Hercules and Love Affair opened for the B-52s when they played here around Halloween. Not bad. 6. Kylie Minogue - Rippin' Up The Disco - I like the music behind the verses more than the chorus. That's when the song is the most exciting. 7. Róisín Murphy - Slave To Love - I really like this cover! It's got a sinister electro feel like many of the songs in your mix. Totally different from the original. 8. Kish Mauve - Lose Control (Kish Mauve Extended) - Now this one reminds of the electroclash scene from a few years back like Fischerspooner and Adult. The melody is kind of loopy and thrilling. 9. Robyn - Dream On - Zombiekitten turned me on to the new Robyn earlier this year so I already have the U.S. edition of her album with a longer version of this song on it. Excellent electropop. 10. t.A.T.u. - Craving (I Only Want What I Can't Have) (Bollywood Mix) - This song was an even bigger surprise than the Goldfrapp remix. I never expected t.A.T.u. to sound like this. Is this mix official? It's very good--maybe my second favorite in your mix. Thanks for resubmitting your songs!

I'm glad you liked it sexonseven.
The tATu song is an official mix. It can be found on their "The Best" compilation. It's a Trevor Horn production. The original is slower and more depressing.
