I never cared for his cover. The arrangement and tempo always seemed a bit off to me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I agree on the arrangement and tempo being off a bit. I'll always prefer the original but I still think it was pretty cool of Robert to cover it.

He did a very good job with it. I still prefer the original though. Andy is a four letter word.

The orginal is so dramatic..almost scary and haunting . Robert did an ok job..It took me a while to like it though....since it was kinda watered down, however I did like the instrumentation, and it is electro-like (which also took me a while to get into). Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I love Robert's version. I've always thought the song was more amusing coming from a guy -- especially Robert Palmer, who never struck me as the type to ever be in that situation. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I never heard the original by Cherelle until relatively recently. I thought this was written for Palmer by Jam and Lewis (and I had the CD). Obviously, listening to the lyrics it is an odd choice for a man, especially the womanizing character that Palmer portrayed in those videos, to be singing. Then again, the song is so ice cold, that the arrangement helps. I like both versions a lot.

I heard that he re-did his vocals on this song, for his greatest hits package, cause he hated the way he sounded. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I never cared for Robert's version. The original version by Cherelle is arguably the best production work that Jam and Lewis have ever done.Plus,I think the lyrics are more believable coming from a woman. It's hard to imagine a man turning down a flirty woman

Did anyone like Mariah's cover? I thought it was ok, but she was breathing a bit too heavy while singing for me. Besides, I think Jam and Lewis just pulled out Cherrelle's track and slightly remixed it for Mariah.

All they did was tunr the Kickdrum up so it will thump more...then they added a laser sound in the intro before she sings. I wish they had done this for the Tabu Remasters. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
