Former Beatle Ringo Starr has given his fans a ticket to ride.


Former Beatle Ringo Starr says he has had enough of signing fan mail and memorabilia.

In a video posted on his Web site, Starr says he will no longer sign fan mail or memorabilia.

"I want to tell you please... do not send fan mail to any address that you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed.

"I'm warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail, thank you, thank you, and no objects to be signed. Nothing," the 68-year-old said.

Starr once starred in an episode of 'The Simpsons' which showed him answering every piece of fan mail.

"They took the time to write to me, and I don't care if it takes 20 years, I'm going to answer every one of them," Starr said on the show.


Starr, who earlier this year released a new album called Liverpool 8, divides his time between homes in Los Angeles, the South of France and Surrey.

He angered Liverpool residents during an interview on British television in January when he said he missed nothing about the city

When I read this, it gave me a bad taste in my mouth. It is like saying,
on some level, the fans that take the time to write you aren't worth your
precious time. At the very least, he could hire a few people to do autopen
stuff for him. (It isn't like he can't afford it.) Or do what Jim Carrey does,
have a standard photo pre-printed with your "signature" and reply to all your
fanmail requests with it.

I can't believe he even had to announce this! I can't imagine Ringo would actually take the time to answer stuff that's sent to him. Doesn't he have staff to do that kind of thing? A rubber stamp with an "official" autograph?

And he announces that he WILL sign stuff until the postmark Oct 20?! What is he, insane?!

I just think that there could have been a more polite way of stating this. I mean if he's been personally answering fan mail all these years I understand that he doesn't want to do it anymore but the way he announced this was just tacky but with "peace and love".

just go to his site and watch him say it..


there is a better way to approach this.. ringo failed to find the right way to do it..

I'm amazed he still bothers to sign anything. I don't get why you'd announce you'd stop, why not just stop and people will eventually figure out not to send stuff.
