Somewhere here on Earth?? His voice is awful on this track.Maybe when Prince was in his "20s voice".. he would make this song a smash(the song is not bad but a power fantastic-prince would sing this so much better!!) but not with his voice right now. So many songs on his recent albums just Fade-Out .....
[Edited 10/15/08 9:12am]

You prove my point, no debate is possible with someone as blindly dedicated to MJ.Prince's voice is awful??? WTF??? eek

you know you're taking the troll bait, right? lol

I think songs like Butterflies, Don´t Walk Away, Whatever Happens do have soul.

Not only that but I think Prince didn´t wrote or delivered a vocal performance that can stand next to songs like Butterflies or Whatever Happens.
Man if you compare Whatever Happens to Chelsea Rodgers. It´s like Mozart compared to Lenny Kravitz.Whatever Happens or Butterflies beat the shit out of
songs like Chelsea Rodgers,Planet Earth,Mr. Goodnight

That word should be write ... 'scuse me. But back to the matter at hand. If you think Butterflies is soulful then I guess in your opinion, Julie Andrews "Spoonful Of Sugar" from The Sound Of Music has soul to. They both are in the same league to me.

Did anyone know that after the first pressing of the album, Michael went and alightly remixed Get On The Floor and Rock With You. The versions on the original 1979 edition are kinda different.

He did the same thing for Bad and remixed Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Dirty Diana, and Smooth Criminal after the first pressings were released

Yeah- it interesting how they did this. I think the first mixes are better in both cases.

The original album mix of Bad is 10x better than the one that's been issued on the later editions. It's nearly identical to the video mix with the horns included

Agreed! Even if Stevie Wonder wasn't associated with this song, I would still love it. It's rare to hear Michael sing such a lovely jazz-like song, and his vocals are fantastic.

I agree. The Supremes' Susaye Greene co-wrote "I Can't Help It". smile

Bland, monotonous or uninspired songs are the following.

Off The Wall:
I Can't Help It

Dangerous Album:
She drives Me Wild
Can't Let Her Get Away

Good beats though overall repetitive.

History Album:
Tabloid Junkie
Money
This Time Around

Invincible Album:
Every song except 'You Rock My World' and 'Don't Walk Away'
The beats on 'Unbreakable' and Heartbreaker' are great but overall the songs are boring .
'Butterflies' is incredibly overrated.

Oh, another problem with the final version of workin day and night are those breathing pauses. Ruins the flow.

Well I at least agree with these two. Those songs are generic shit. I agree that "Butterflies" is overrated too.

LOL. Sorry. DWA and YRMW are two of the worst on Invincible. Tabloid Junkie and She Drives me wild are 2 of my fav MJ songs, but then again, I am a tad unusual.

Soul Alive, I am not too sure about the mixes on Off The Wall (I haven't listened to my vinyl in a long time). I know Off The Wall, Get On The Floor and something else was changed- it could be basic elements. one fan said the original mix for Off The Wall is completely different- different horns and so forth.

This is what a fan said on Maximum Jackson in regard to Off The Wall (single version from a cassette):

When I played back my cassette later there was a version of the song 'Off The Wall' that blew me away!! It was much fuller in sound than what was on the album.

It sounded like there were many, many more horns and it was fantastic!

this mix I heard was night and day different from the album version.

With Bad, there are notable differences. I saved this from MJNO before it closed for reference- so thank you to whoever wrote this:

Bad: All trumpets are included throughout the song (like the video) and the guitar in the chorus is a little more prominent.

The Way You Make Me Feel: Lead vocals are lower in volume. There's a snap after the second chorus. The synth strings are a little lower, and there's no lead vocals at the end, just the backing vocals.

I Just Can't Stop Loving You: Just has the spoken intro.

Dirty Diana: Slightly longer, with the bass guitar turned up a little and some vocals crossover on a later chorus.

Smooth Criminal: Backgrounds are panned a little different and a lot of the sounds are mixed at different volumes or some sounds aren't even in there.

Smooth Criminal actually went through 3 incarnations on the album. This first one, then the second which had everything remixed with a "grittier" sound, and then the third which was the same as the second, but with the breathing at the beginning removed.
