For the Record should have been the final single, that is the best song off that weak album

Not that it's amazing or really even special. It would have just been a better single because people like club bangers more than ballads. Dance tracks just have better odds of grabbing many people's attention more than ballads. Honestly, her ballads on this album are some of her weakest to me. 'Mimi' had waay better slow jams than this album, but that's just me.

Everything.

It's got a fantastic, unique beat. Could've had a seriously classy club video, although I doubt Mariah knows what classy even is. And I can actually stand T Pain in this song. The beat suits his voice.

OK... I don't think the song is bad, but to me it just sounds like most r&b that is being played at the clubs. I don't hear the uniquness that so many are praising. It's got a nice beat and is a cool song to dance and party to, but it's nothing rememberable to me.

I like the strings in the background, gives it an elevated, epic kind of feel. I think this would sound AMAZING in the clubs.

Yeah it just annoys me that they had two very good tracks on a typical Mariah album ( and by typical i mean 5 good cuts and then filler) and they totally let the filler songs, the b sides come out as singles? Jesus who works at def jam now? just the worst judgments ever, even people that HATE mariah said that side effects and Migrate should have been the singles. This is what pisses me off about Mariah all through her career, and that is that she is at best 75%, thats all you get from her thats it. Migrate easily could have been the single, first out of the box, u even have Tpain there whos on everything at this point, i think hes duetting with Josh Groban next, and you could have had a hot classy sexy club video for mariah, and not that SHIT video "touch my body", awful video awful song, and Brett Ratner who directed that video is the worst and needs to just give it up at this point.

Mariah is busy prepping the third flop in a row from E=MC2, and the single choices just keep getting worse ("I Stay In Love"). Did they not get the memo that the era is OVER? They are just wasting their time and money.

I can't believe she's putting her husband in every video....ugh! And a few more square inches without cover and we're back in the Loverboy phase, clothing-wise. disbelief BUT I do give her points because at least that shit is not hot pink and there are no butterflies in sight (maybe they will add them in post-production).

These are still the best faux Mariah lyrics:

Touch My Record

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

I know that you’ve been hating on it
But I think it’s cool
During my ‘emancipation’ I was all up on you
But now I’m trying to mimic me
Emancipation part two
I’m always singing the same thing
just don’t put me on mute

There was marijuana up in here
When I recorded this skanky
song of an excuse (excuse)
There was marijuana up in here
the producer of this s**t
was high too (high too)
Cause if you have something original
that you think I can record to
IT WON’T BE ALLOWED!
I’m all about predictable-ness
Like a ‘Fantasy’ part two
The Hot 100
For the 18th time

Touch my record
In the I-tunes store
Purchase it for a dollar
Request it a little more
Touch my record
Let me get ahead
I just want a fake
record I can break
Touch my record
You know you love my tricks
Come on give me a #1 I don’t deserve
So touch this record

Boy you can put me on blast
Like a brand new Fergie
I’ll hold that #1 tighter
It’s my favorite dream
I want you to repress me
Til’ the competition is clean
I’ll sky rocket faster
If Rihanna’s nowhere to be seen

There was marijuana up in here
When I recorded this skanky
song of an excuse (excuse)
There was marijuana up in here
the producer of this s**t
was high too (high too)
Cause if you have something original
that you think I can record to
IT WON’T BE ALLOWED!
I’m all about predictable-ness
Like a ‘Fantasy’ part two
The Hot 100
For the 18th time

Touch my record
Let me get ahead
I just want a fake
record I can break
Touch my record
You know you love my tricks
Come on give me a #1 I don’t deserve
So touch this record

Why is this going nowhere
You know that it’s not fair
They should change their policy
Allow me to sell this for free
It almost worked with ‘Loverboy’
My fans they bought plenty
Touch my record

Touch my record
In the I-tunes store
Purchase it for a dollar
Request it a little more
Touch my record
Let me get ahead
I just want a fake
record I can break
Touch my record
You know you love my tricks
Come on give me a #1 I don’t deserve

Well Def Jam is on a roll, bad marketing, bad singles choices, bad videos etc....

This album was doomed from the first single/video, "Touch my body" was easily her worst single in her career, it was total garbage, just a bad fucking song period, the writing was terrible, the video was awful. And since then each single has been a bad choice, BYE BYE should have been nothing but a b-side, how many times is Mariah going to do a single like that and then make a totally self indulgent music video again. Third single, was an OK choice only if single 1 and 2 wouldnt have been the choices they made. As for this fourth one, yet again a bad choice.

Migrate should have been single number one, case closed.

Had THAT song been recorded by Katy Perry or Britney Spears, it wouldn't been a surprise at all. We aspect those kind of artists to have songs like that.

But since we're talking about Mariah, the poor woman has lower her musical standard.

Exactly! so this is what i was getting at in another thread that someone started about "age" and what "age" artists are aiming at. Now what is better or worse with Britney or Katy Perry or Vanessa Hudgens etc,,aiming right at their general age group 15-25, or someone like mariah or janet who are in their late 30's and early 40's and they are aiming at the same audience.

R. Kelly is suppose to be age 41. He target mostly teenage girls that would be F***ing For Tracks and/or who knows what else.

At least Mariah & Nick aren't F***ing For Tracks. For anything, they may be F***ing For Credibility!
