Hell Freezes Over - US release date for Roses album!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/h...662833.stm

US release date for Roses album

Guns N' Roses have not released an album for 15 years
Guns N' Roses long-awaited new album, Chinese Democracy, is to be released in the US on 23 November.
The album will come out ahead of the regular Tuesday release slot in US music store Best Buy, according to Billboard magazine.
The rock band's last record, their covers collection The Spaghetti Incident?, came out in 1993.
Their new song Shackler's Revenge will debut on the soundtrack of video game Rock Band 2 ahead of the album release.
A date for Chinese Democracy to hit UK shops has yet to be confirmed.
Free pop
Another track from the album, If The World, is used on the closing credits for the film Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
The new album will be accompanied by a vinyl re-release of Guns N' Roses' 1987 debut, Appetite For Destruction.
Earlier this year, a US soft drinks manufacturer pledged to send every American a free can of pop if Chinese Democracy saw the light of day before the end of 2008.
The most recent release date for Chinese Democracy was March 2007, but it vanished from the schedules as the album was further delayed.
Earlier this year, the band took legal action against a blogger who leaked some of the album's tracks online.

it's kinda like the election. i'd be pleasantly surprised if Obama wins and but I wouldn't be surprised if he loses.

same with this album....i would expect it to sell mega but it wouldn't surprise me if it fizzles.

It is hard to tell just HOW anticipated this album is, but the fact that they are from an era of mega selling albums could mean their audience would be buying a physical copy (sorta like Prince's people, or Madonna's). Nevermind the new fans that certainly have come along since the last album.

I don't believe it will cover the costs. I read some of the numbers for the production of Chinese Democracy and they are out of this world.

But that's even with the hope/expectation of a multi platinum seller.

Smart move by Best Buy. Maybe they are fearing that the traffic won't be as crazy in the stores as it usually is on those Thanksgiving weekends, so this will help. I won't actually believe it until Best Buy really starts the advertising. Then if Axl pulls out, Best Buy will probably sue! Looks like we get a free can of Dr. Pepper, too!

I agree. It really doesn't appear to about the music anymore...it's just about whether the album will come out at all. I don't know that they are any expectations for quality. I'll honestly try to listen to some samples. Oh wait..just remembered it won't be on Itunes...I assume the Best Buy site will let you listen to samples. In other words, not super excited. It's funny....but Donna Summer and Guns and Roses did the same thing this year. They released long awaited albums with a 17 year gap! Only Donna didn't really promise one AND gave us plenty of good one offs.

I don't believe it until I am holding it in my hands.

I mean, until I have all the files as 320kb/s mp3s on my HD.

So if this is the "Chinese Democracy" we've been hearing about FOREVER...Won't Slash be on some of the tracks? Or did they reproduce his parts? Rerecord them to make them up-to-date?

Or did Slash exit the band before plans for this album even started?

Sorry I'm not too hip on G&R history boxed

Well if they were recording it all that time, it is possible Slash (and Duff?) were on there but I assume in that time, they have recorded it. I mean...I honestly don't know what the hell could be keeping this thing from happening for that long.

Slash did hardly anything else than play the solos on the songs. He came up with some good guitar arragements, but it's not like the others in the (original) band weren't perfectly capable of contributing to that on their own as well.

Axl would need Duff and Izzy more than he needs Slash.
