Umm, he has skills as a rapper, and, as stated above, has some good hooks. That is the explanation of his success. Don't hate, appreciate.

When does his jail term start? Though he did beat the "guns" rap sort of, i heard he is still going to do time for some of it.

Love his lyrics (not necessarily his subject matter tho), but he can actually write, knows what a metaphor is, and his rhymes are more complex than 90% of the rappers out there. He's prolly second to Jay-Z in his ability to tell a story from start to finish without resorting to weak, simple ass, 4-word lines. Plus the production's pretty good. Motivation is my shit and I was actually planning to add a line from it as part of my siggy.
