It's NOT reggae.....what makes you think that?? It's electronic, beats & bass, bossanova & a bit of dub.....

There style is quite diverse.....I would be lying if I said that there isn't and element of reggae in it.....mostly it's beats & chill! I like them a lot!

Mara turned me on to Lucky Soul which I like a lot. They sound like The Pipettes.

I'm also fascinated with the Last Shadow Puppets--more orchestral retro pop.

Bit of a coincidence. Love Melbourne, been there a couple of times, beats Auckland. Very good album i thought, very mellow but songwriting as good as ever, think "English trees" is my favourite song.

What a coincidence! I've been listening to that album all week and it's brilliant. Better late than never. biggrin

I recommend this

Great to hear Rahsaan Patterson exploring different genres though there were hits of it in his last album e.g delirium, Pitch black etc

Review from Amazon.com
Product Description
2008 debut album from this exciting Dance/Electro trio. Take one in-demand Australian born, London-based, producer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Add a revered, critically lauded American Soul singer and a Copenhagen-based Electro/Soul singer. Not the most obvious make up for a group, but then again SugaRush Beat Company are no ordinary band. The trio -Jarrad 'Jaz' Rogers, Rahsaan Patterson and Ida Corr - hail from three different continents, span four countries, and their life affirming mixture of elasticated grooves, dark beauty and multi layered Psychedelic Funk have already attracted favorable comparisons with musical mavericks such as Prince, Avalanches and Outkast. The band's self titled debut album, a heady mix of infectious quirky Pop and Alternative Soul, their very own unique Technicolor world of 'Soulternative Pop'.

Awesome. I'm sure they couldn't afford to bring an orchestra overseas if they were to play in the states. sad
