Grant Green Grooves It Up Jan, Jan...
...From the album Live at the Lighthouse (1972) This is an updated cover of a song originally done by Detroit funk band, The Fabulous Counts. Smokin' guitar, crazy B-3, burnin' sax, Wilton Felder on bass, people hollerin'...Killer jam! My guess is that Soulive knows about this album. The riff Grant hits at around the 2:40 mark is just... tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 10/7/08 17:35pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Oh yeah...
Prince digs out of Grant Greens toy box on more than a few songs. I've also just picked up the disk that Grant Green Jr. put together The Godfathers Of Groove (Reuben Wilson, Bernard Purdie, Grant Green Jr.) While he's not as good as dad, this disk has it's moments.
