FuNkeNsteiN presents: The falsetto appreciation thread! The falsetto is one of my favorite things in the whole wide world.
There has been a lot of discussion concerning the falsetto over at the Prince vs El DeBarge thread, but I think the falsetto merits a thread dedicated entirely to it. Here are some heavenly falsettos and smooth grooves for you guys to dig Heaven & Earth - I Can't Seem To Forget You (Dwight Dukes) Enchantment - Gloria (Emanuel "E.J" Johnson) The Moments - Love On A Two-Way Street (Billy Brown) The Moments - Gotta Find A Way (Harry Ray) The Whatnauts - Try Me (And I'll Show You) (Garnet Jones) The Continental IV - Day By Day (Every Minute Of The Hour) (Freddie Kelly) The Younghearts - Hey Love (Ronnie Preyer) The Delfonics - I Don't Want To Make You Wait (William Hart) The Ethics - Tell Me (Ron Tyson) Billy Butler & Infinity - Hung Up On You (Billy Butler) Black Ivory - Don't Turn Around (Leroy Burgess) Blue Magic - What's Come Over Me (Ted Mills) Ok, I guess that's enough for now I might post some more later on It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Great Thread
Remy Shand - Take a Message Heatwave - Always and Forever, Live Version. Falsetto doesn't kick in till 4;15. The studio version is better but it's fun to see these guys back in their prime. Check out the suits. I wonder if Prince got his Lovexexy wardrobe named sleeves idea from these guys. EW&F I'll Write a Song for You One of the best falsetto songs ever IMHO.

Jónsi's (Sigur Rós) falsetto is heavenly!
So is David Bowie's. This is my voice, my weapon of choice!

Great picks, Andy I agree with the good Dr. I will say Cooper's co-replacements ** Charlie Singleton, ** Tomi Jenkins ** and Anthony Lockett ( but not as a replacement for Coop's falsetto vox,). I was listening to the Ugly Ego (his debut) and the WAKWWA LP's. 'Give Love A Chance', 'I Want You' a very underrated tune.. som' serious funk & roll going on, on this cut; along with Coop's falsetto vox. WAKWWA the title song from this LP is groove worthy... his vocals were outtasight outtamind. I need not mention his more note worthy vocal performances..

You've only heard him singing with the Tempts? He did some stuff with the Ethics, and with the Love Committee (later in the 70s). He also wrote a lot of stuff. He co-wrote songs such as Rick James's 'Big Time' and Blue Magic's 'Haunted (By Your Love)' Oh and, thanks! I'm saying I honestly thought that Cameo had a female singer for a long time. When I first heard "I Just Want to Be" and Wayne came in, I kept saying "I didn't know Cameo had a lady in the group".

OMG exactly what I was talking about That wail,,,,,filled with feminine hormones When Luther Vandross said "There's absloutly nothing like the voice of a female black singer", he should've reconsidered throwing Wayne in that category

Brian's annunciation of words is great too. Many people can sing high notes but sometimes you struggle to understand what it is exactly they are saying. [Edited 10/6/08 14:15pm]
