Actually, I want EURO-DISCO. I want spoons, I want lines. I want upbeat, I want oblivion.

I love a black voice singing over European-produced disco rhythms.

I love disco, don't get me wrong. But it was too easy to make bad disco. I never once heard bad funk. It was all good. It had to be. And you had to have talent to play it. Now, you didn't have to have talent to do disco, you just needed a good beat and a good producer. Although even the worst disco singer has more talent than most singers today.
Disco is brittle, whereas funk is the root of the earth. The soil from which we all sprung from.

cool Kind of sound like the best part of my post where I stated; "Funk is the "beginning" and deeper still, musically, funk is the Alpha and Omega."

Don't front on the Bee Gees and KC. They may have been white, but they GOT DOWN and real talk, their music is the reason a lot of people even know about disco today.

Man I fucks with them. I'm just saying when the BG's did SNF, it was slamming but it was the exposure afterwards (and Vinnie Barbarino rolleyes ) that helped to kill disco's commercial scene. And some artists did some corny ass disco records that just wasn't cool.

Of early disco, I loved the music of not only KC and Barry but First Choice and Gloria Gaynor pre-"I Will Survive" and Donna Summer.

You're right. A lot of my gay brothers & sisters sang first in the Church. Most notably SYLVESTER who came out of the C.O.G.I.C. in South Los Angeles. smile

As a kid, I could tell the difference between funk and disco. It was MAJOR differences between the two. Musically, lyrically and conceptually. I know many don't hear the differences and plus many listen with their eyes and NOT their ears. For me, as a little kid, who grew up listening to everything, disco had it's place just like funk, i.e. Parliament, rock, i.e. Zeppelin, pop, i.e. Olivia Newton John did. And although disco borrowed heavily from the funk, they to me are two entirely different animals. Funk, unlike any other genre, can be and is anything. Funk is the "beginning" and deeper still, musically, funk is the Alpha and Omega.

Been sayin this for years

Funk can do airthang.... cool
