Odelay. Any album that makes you buy it again as a 2-disc deluxe edition means you have a certain love for it.
I really really... really liked Guero.

I hadn't even heard myself the studio version of "Ship In The Bottle" until now (I dl'd it). Nice, but I like the way "Sea Change" normally ends with the "Side Of The Road", which is just sort of simplistic and I like how the lyrics are so dismissive of the whole situation. For a break-up album "Sea Change" really offers the only sensitive solution in the form of the final song, there are a couple of pompous numbers preceding it, but he's not wrapping it up with a folked up version of "Purple Rain" or anything like that. It's just this simple song.
Other than that, "Sea Change" is actually a rather "manly" break-up album. Many of the meloancholic pop songs of the same subject matter can be rather "feminine", almost catty, in tone (which is something you can still relate to when you're a younger guy, but not anymore once you've yourself passed a certain age). I don't mean to imply overt macho attitude with that - as "Sea Change" to me captures quite well the inavoidable weakness a male might go through in such a life situation.
