Next Donna Summer Single..Possibly: Fame (The Game) I hope this song is the next single. I've already heard a nice remix of the song. It's too bad there were no videos that accompanied I'm A Fire or Stamp Your Feet, but, nonetheless, it doesn't take away from the fact that Crayons is one of those cds that no one is buying and you wonder why. Possibly not enough promotion and/or too much assumption before listening to it. I think Fame (The Game) will be Donna's 3rd #1 dance song this year, if it's released anytime soon.

It could be a great FOURTH single. After all, she (and/or the record company) already released "Sand On My Feet" to AC stations but it doesn't appear to be taking. What are you going to do? I would love for something of hers to go sort of mainstream. If "Stamp" didn't do it, though, not sure that "Fame" will. It's cool though. A hellvu a lot better than "When I Grow Up" in every way.

I enjoyed it alot. I would love to see Drivin' down brazil as a single. It's one of my favorite songs of that LP. [Edited 10/1/08 15:35pm]

Although I like "Fame (The Game)",I don't think it will go anywhere as a single.Songs that are about the price of fame rarely ever become big hits.A better choice would be "Science Of Love"...it's a fun, catchy electro-pop jam. With a vibrant video and some cool remixes, this could be surprise hit from this CD.

I agree. "Science of Love" is such awesome pop and possibly could have that pop crossover appeal.

I agree. "Science of Love" is such awesome pop and possibly could have that pop crossover appeal. It's extremely catchy and radio-friendly,sounding like modern-day pop/dance.It's got the most potential to be a hit

Unfortunately, I don't think any single will go anywhere. And I say that because it seems that no one on radio wants to play her. If they do then, for some reason, the song does not appeal enough for them to keep playing it. Sure, Donna does well on the dance charts, but I think people seems to want to keep her in her disco box, so anything outside that box, they're not willing to give a chance. It's just the way it SEEMS. It's not necessarily the way it is. Even further, Science could still be released later on.

You're absolutely right.Donna is seen primarily as a dance music artist.I know she hates this. It's something she's struggled with all throughout the 80s,when she tried to branch out and position herself as a rock/pop singer. She may disagree, but I don't think being a dance music artist is such a bad thing. There's an audience out there for that type of music and Donna should embrace it.I'd like to see her do a full-fledged dance album, something along the lines of Cher's 'Believe' or Madonna's 'Confessions On A Dance Floor'....brilliant,modern-day disco albums that had no problems finding an audience. 'Crayons' is a strong, solid album but I don't think it contains enough pure dance music.Whenever a hot groove emerges,Donna spoils it by switching gears and doing something different and wierd ("Slide Over Backwards" is one of her worst songs ever),which messes up the flow of the album.

I too would love if Donna did an all dance cd, but I do understand her creative process: She likes to do whatever comes out of her. Sure, she could put aside all the created non-dance tracks and put together an all dance cd, but it would have to be done when she's ready to do it. Then she'll feel good about doing it because it was on her time. I have no issue with Crayons. I just wish it was promoted much better than it was. A video for each song this far would have helped, but I think Donna came back because she was bored, not because she was in need of money or wanted tp be on top again. That would have been icing on the cake. I think she's done well for being away for as long as she has. Slide Over Backwards is good creative tune. I doubt if she had replaced it with another "fitting" song that it would have made any difference:) She's creative and I love her creativity as long as I can hear it:) [Edited 10/2/08 15:44pm]

Did you see her on tour recently? The setlist contained alot of 'Crayons' songs. It wasn't a typical greatest hits tour at all.

I think it's difficult for any 59 year old (male or female) to make any impact on the singles charts. I always thought that Itunes would be a better eqaulizer and that songs that didn't fit on radio might have a chance, but not much has changed, sadly.

As far as singles go,Donna's best bet is to just concentrate on the dance charts."I'm A Fire" and "Stamp Your Feet" both went to Number One on the dance charts. That's why I say she should make a full-fledged dance music album. That's where her bread is buttered She doesn't stand a chance with the pop audiences of today.

I would have liked if Donna made a full on dance album but with at least two really strong ballads...and not cheesy "dance" ballads....get some professionals like Diane Warren or David Foster in there of maybe a soul pop track by someone like Jam and Lewis. I think if you do a full on dance CD, it could be full on cheesy. Wouldn't doubt that if she makes a follow up and it isn't a dreaded covers album, she'll go for something like that.

How about a new dance album produced by.....Giorgio Moroder? He worked with her several years ago, producing two tracks for a greatest hits set.The songs weren't bad.

Those news songs weren't bad but they weren't great. As far as Giorgio and dance music, "Dreams A Lot Theme" was easily the weaker of the two new tracks (probably the worst of Donna's one off tracks from that 17 year gap). "That's The Way" was a fun pop track, but nothing special. Frankly, that "The Journey" CD is weakened by those additions while "Endless Summer" has two great "new" songs, if you ask me (I might be alone but "Any Way At All" is an awesome AC ballad...Dianne Warren wishes she wrote it!).
