Dirty Chris' VINYL DIG 10/04/08 yes, I know today's the 5th
but I went on yesterday afternoon pretty day for a road trip huhn? I went to the Music Treasure Chest in Baton Rouge, LA got this on the strength of that Growing Pains DVD Mary J. Blige interview, THIRD COAST rapper Fat Pat (R.I.P.) & Harlepolis (remember you mentioned this song "over there") I try to pick up all things Kalimba!!! saw a copy of Faces, but it was missing a record got this on the strength of that Butterflies thread thanx Cinnie classic Sade classic Sade never heard this one before and I got (or once had) most of the GCS stuff on vinyl I got this for my friend he loves Donny/Stevie/Frank McComb I used to have this CD it's funny how this was one of the first ones I spotted out when I got to the place... "I Call Your Name" is the reason why but I had been looking for this album to get into the rest of it classic Nanny Ree... "I Get High"/"Jump" is the reason why classic DeBarge... bought it for "Be My Lady" but then noticed "Stay With Me", "A Dream", "Love Me In A Special Way" are all here too... this must have been THE BIG ALBUM from this group saw "Outstanding" was there... but listening to it it's not the version I wanted... maybe I need to find the 12" single... my cousin Cheryl had it aformentioned in the DeBarge thread... I took an interest to the post-J5 stuff after you guys mentioned so much about the Destiny & Triumph albums... shout out to Timmy for the "That's What You Get" clip my fave from here is "Push Me Away" though I played this record last night can somebody tell me who sampled that beginning part of "Heartbreak Hotel"? I KNOW I've heard it somewheres...I KNOW IT!!! once again... I was looking for ALL that post-J5 stuff I didn't see Victory, or the first one... "Vanishing" is the reason why among the obvious "Vision Of Love", "Someday" shout out to muse87 self explanatory... but if you need an explanation... "Just Like A Baby" "(You Caught Me) Smilin'" & "Poet" are reasons why I sold my old copy back a while ago because the cover was in terrible condition besides the cool glasses were missing and guess what??? what are the fucking chances!!! I always see copies of this sans the pop-out glasses, on digs but never WITH the glasses... I'm so happy I almost wanna pop them out and take a pic with them on ROTFL (maybe one day) 12" for "Funk U Up" by The Sequence I have become somewhat of a STAN of Angie B, Cheryl The Pearl & BLAHN-DEE HAAAAY! I usually will pick it up if I see the Stone City Band emblem or Rick James... never heard this one is it any good? ditto my "Baby Fingers" vinyl catalog is almost complete, I now need those first 2 Prestige albums, and the Now album and I'm good picked this up on the strength of that "Galaxy" thread... shoutout funkpill it was SoulAlive who suggested these 2 albums too me... I kept them in mind I'm so happy right now I honestly don't know which one to listen to next because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

BTW, that album is fire! "Lonely Like Me," "Early in the Morning," "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," "Season's No Reason to Change," "I Can't Get Over You"... I played this record last night
can somebody tell me who sampled that beginning part of "Heartbreak Hotel"? I KNOW I've heard it somewheres...I KNOW IT!!! Heavy D sampled "Heartbreak Hotel" on "Peaceful Journey." Is that where you heard it? "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I thought it was cool to find her debut on record. I don't see it in that format too often.

I just think that her first CD was her best cause it showed her at her "in the raw". The material was pretty good and so was her voice. She really was not influenced by other styles of music yet. I enjoyed it allot. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I will check those out I heard their cover of "I Can't Stand The Rain" and I'm like but anything would pale in comparison to the Ann Peebles original he also did an Al Green remake on one of those GCS albums which didn't impress me either... because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

You were asking if the Rick James "Throwin' Down" album was any good. It's my favorite Rick James album and it's great from start to finish. That Stone City Band "In N Out" album is a rare find. The main thing I listen to on the album is "Little Runaway". If you ever see any more Stone City Band albums, pick them up because they are almost impossible to find in stores. Be on the lookout for "Behind The Shadow" with features their most popular song "Ladies Choice".
I just re-bought two of those Jacksons albums on CD this past weekend myself, "Destiny" and "Triumph". I got them for the 12 Inch bonus tracks which were great. The Gap Band "IV" album is also one of their best. Although I like the 12 Inch versions of the songs more. The Sequence "Funk You Up" is a good one too. That's back when rap was actually good and worthy of being called music. I love that Isaac Hayes album too for the long version of "Don't Let Go" alone. As IAin'tTheOne said, minus the Mariah Scary album, you got some great ass jams. Andy is a four letter word.

The song "Don't Let Go" was a huge disco hit in late 1979.It was considered a comeback for Isaac, who hadn't had a big hit in awhile.Perhaps you remember your parents playing this song when you were a child?
