John Legend on Michael Jackson's new album "I have a suspiscion it's not happening"

"I've only had a few run-ins with Michael. I wrote a song with will.i.am and we presented it to Michael and he may or may not include it on his new album.
I don't know the status of his new album, whether he's still working on it or whether it's temporarily on hold or anything.
I have a suspiscion it's not happening anymore."

John Legend doesn't know, like he said, he's had a few run-ins with Michael, and he has a suspiscion, and that is all.

The one problem i see is, if Michael does do another album, he has to promote it to make it a success, videos are no longer that important, so that means touring. I'm not sure he'd be up for that.

That's a shame, and it think it's the brutal truth. neutral

i said it before and i'll say it again Michael Jackson retired when his first child was born. He gave up his career to be a father.

Michael retired when the first child molestation charge came out. He just didn't know it.

The public has retired him for him.

frankly who cares what John Legend thinks. Hes someone with little talent who gave himself the surname Legend so people would refer to him by it... pathetic. I'm not even a Jacko fan but can see hes far more talented regardless of whats gone on the last ten years in his life. Yeah John is probably just annoyed that no one wants his dull song.

Oh, you mean the 18 Mio. people, who bought the HIStory album and the 4.5 million people who came out to see him on the HIStory tour??

Other than that... what does John Legend now... maybe he's just not using his song.... he's not the first to work with MJ who got his song dismissed!

Here we go again.Every other week, another R&B artist/producer/songwriter comments on the album without telling us something we didn't already know bored Why can't Michael simply start his own blog or issue the occasional statement on his webiste? You know...to keep his fans up-to-date on how things are going?! Is that asking too much?? It's ridiculous to keep hearing these silly comments by people who apparently don't know any more than we do.

And why is it taking MJ so damn long to finish the album? We know he's recorded dozens of tracks already. Why can't he just sit down today, listen to the tracks, pick the best 12 songs and compile the damn album?! Schedule a date in January to release it.I can't believe how lazy he has become.

It would be a great idea but know Michael wouldn't be able to keep up with a blog. We'd get entries every six months.

February 2nd: Today I went to the studio to record Dance Baby Dance

Oct 4th: Today I am laying down backing vocals for Dance Baby Dance

If he's working with the likes of Kanye West and Will.I.am I'm not really interested in a new album.
Work on your own Michael or with one non-hip hop/rap producer.

That was 13 years ago, and most of that album's success is due to its greatest hits disc. His popularity has fallen steadily ever since.

My previous post was not meant to be disrespectful... I fully respect MJs musical career and back catalog -- but his personal life has overshadowed the musical legacy.

But even with his PACE, I'm sure you're right about him having dozens of songs to choose from RIGHT NOW that could be compiled for his next album.

That's bullshit. The majority of that albums sales came after he released You Are Not Alone and Earth Song - which are two of his biggest selling singles ever.
Earth Song was his biggest selling European single ever and the sales of HIStory went through the roof after this song was released.

Sounding pretty defensive there.

If we're so confident that the album IS happening, why not just let MJ prove John Legend's suspicions wrong? cool

Man about 5 summers ago I was working in a CD store and we were ordered by head office to play Black Eyed Peas (among a few other titles).

The album version of Let's Get It Started came on just as a handicapped person arrived at the store. Not a good look!

Sure, they hate his guts because of child abuse allegations, but buy his then new album, because of his greatest hits (which they already own anyway) and then they leave their houses and get into their cars to see him in concert! Sure!

Or where you talking about the 10 mio people who bought the Invincible album?? Anyway, it's not working! Try again! wink

What on earth are you ranting for?

The man simply made a comment about a project he worked on that may or may not come to pass hmm There was no judgement passed, he only commented very discreetly on the status of some recordings. That hardly warrants such an irrational reaction chill pill
