Disco/Funk Jam of the Day: "Hot Number" by Foxy

Everybody talks about "Get Off" all the time but now it's time to turn it out with "Hot Number".

Give it up.

This group was pretty ahead of it's time really. They had some original sounding funk.

Imma regular troll on this board...but have a LOT in common with your taste & memories from back in the day....thought I'd get atcha on this one....

Love "Hot Numbers"....but I been spinnin "Rrrrrock" off of Foxy's rarely mentioned "Party Boys" album lately, too.

These (and "Get Off" too) are some disco leftovers that DO NOT suck....ya feelin me on this?

I love "Rrrrrock". I've got it on a "Best Of Foxy" CD. I recently bought the "Get Off" and "Hot Numbers" albums recently and noticed it wasn't on either one of them so I realized that there must have been another Foxy album. What year was the "Party Boys" album released?

I didn't care too much for a lot of the stuff on the "Get Off" album other than the title track. I did love a lot of the stuff on the "Hot Numbers" album such as the title track, "Head Hunter", "Devil Boogie", and the slow jam "Nobody Can Take You Away From Me".

Don't like it as much as "Get Off" and those satin shorts the singer is wearing have to go.

Thanks. I think "Hot Numbers" came out in 1979 also. They must have put out two albums that year.

It'd take a revolution in the industry / finance for that to happen now...

On the 'Get Off' album,I really like the opening song "Tena's Song".I also like "Ready For Love".The album is okay but there really is nothing else on the album like the title track. That song really stands out!

I agree with you,the 'Hot Numbers' album is much more consistent.

Yeah,it was amazing how often people released new albums back then! They didn't wait 8 years to release their follow-up albums...lol...In the 70s,it was very common to release an album at the beginning of the year (say,March) and then release the folow-up at the end of the year (December).

Yeah, James Brown and Aretha did it in the 60s and 70s. Prince tried it in the 90s and people just stopped buying the music.

Now, they repackage the album 3 or 4 times for you to keep buying the same crap.
