Have you heard Bob Dylans version from his debut album?

Let's go way back to Woody Guthrie while we're at it.... "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

Love The Animal's version.
"Lead Belly's" (quotes because i can't confirm it's him) with the female vocals from the woman's perspective is pretty cool too, if you can get into that before-school blues.

Yes, I've heard Dylan's version. I like Joan Baez's version as well. I think with Dylan and Baez's versions you can actually appreciate the lyrics a bit more because it isn't overpowered by the music as is the case with The Animals. The Animals version still remains my fave however, theirs has an eerie and intense feel to it that the other version's don't. Also, Eric Burdon's voice is amazing. I still can't believe that big voice came out of that kid. The voice does not match the face at all. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

The Animals version is what I grew up hearing, I understand it was done in one take and cost like $10. Pretty amazing. I was so surprised when I heard it on Dylans album. There's covers of Man Of Constant Sorrow and In My Time Of Dyin' as well.
