"Lead Belly's" (quotes because i can't confirm it's him) with the female vocals from the woman's perspective is pretty cool too, if you can get into that before-school blues. | |

Yes, I've heard Dylan's version. I like Joan Baez's version as well. I think with Dylan and Baez's versions you can actually appreciate the lyrics a bit more because it isn't overpowered by the music as is the case with The Animals. The Animals version still remains my fave however, theirs has an eerie and intense feel to it that the other version's don't. Also, Eric Burdon's voice is amazing. The Animals version is what I grew up hearing, I understand it was done in one take and cost like $10. Pretty amazing. I was so surprised when I heard it on Dylans album. There's covers of Man Of Constant Sorrow and In My Time Of Dyin' as well. | |
