Tour now, album in 2009.I kind of guessed that was happening.

He will do 3 new songs for these October/November concerts.

He confirmed it's a trilogy, 3 albums over 3 years. He has 33 songs done.

BET is sponsoring the tour. I guess this show has high ratings.

I always thought this show was more hip hop oriented and was a "teen" show kind of like TRL.

the thing is there is no relevant "musical" place to go in the US that will help in terms of promo. the 106th and park crowd has NO interest in Maxwell, and im hoping and stays that way because if they ddo that means we are gonna get singles featuring Akon.

i think its pretty SAFE to say that 90% of that audience could care less about Maxwell, kind of like when Prince went on TRL in 1999 and those kids were like "who is this guy and why is he here?"

Unless you have the facts to back up that high-ass 90%, then you certainly can't drop that number as being such.

In that case no one can say anything about anything. But think of it this way, why is michael jackson recording an album with Akon and Ne-Yo??? Because he wants the 106th and park crowd. its that simple, you dont need a number when its all about dollar signs.

Well, no, you CAN say anything about anything, you just can't throw out arbitrary numbers without being able to back them up with facts.

Well it is what it is, look at the audience on these shows, loook at the tape of when Prince was on TRL and he mentioned Larry Graham and Chaka Khan and the Time, the crowd didnt care, and they didnt care about him, they played his video and they were clapping because the sign said to clap, now you tell me what that means, be serious. That was a bunch of 15 year olds looking at 40+ year old guy like he was a fucking dinosaur, true there may have been one or two kids that were like he's cool, but for the most they could care less about him.

And for 106th and Park its the same crowd adn demographic, i have seen that look on audience members faces PLENTY of times in that crowd just like the ones that were looking at Prince as a relic.

But you're talking about a near-50-year-old man with even older labelmates in Chaka and Larry. Maxwell isn't as old and his music is a lot more relevant than P's is, especially to that demographic.

At the time Prince was 41, which is very close to Maxwell, the problem was that the music Prince was doing at that point with RAVE was his "wanna be Hip with kids" album, and they werent buying it, thats what im talking about. Maxwell is from a whole other generation than what is in that audience at 106th and park for the most part, shoot even LL was getting that "relic" look from that crowd

Maxwell is 35 and his music is more relevant than Prince's, and Maxwell appeared on a Black music show, not TRL. Those are the differences that stand out. Maxwell is closer to traditional R&B than eccentric P is, and that 106 generation can relate to that a lot better than to P's flava.

Ok but Prince got the same look from that crowd when he did 106th and park, and if LL cant get that crowd with a single that was number one on the RB chart, than dont expect much more love for Maxwell. Maxwell's demographic is not 16 year olds, sure there may be a few in there, but even when Maxwell was "big" the people that i was getting feedback from on Maxwell were all in their mid 20's and up.

I DON'T AGREE WITH PRINCE NOT BEING RELEVANT TO YOUNG FOLK!

First of all, alot of young Black Teens, are familar with PRINCE!!!
They may see him as a Legend or their Moms and Pops Music, but keep in mind alot of these kids no 1999, When Doves Cry, Kiss, Black Sweat, Call my name, & The Greatest Romance!

Maxwell has been missing in action for 5 years now, his music is memorable, but if PRINCE was to set foot onto 106 & Park, those teens would go CRAZY!!!
Because they know how magical he is, as a musician/performer....He's big as MICHEAL JACKSON!!!!
They hear about his talents and music through BET, MTV, VH1 and of course the Ne-Yo's, Beyonce's, Pharrell William's, and as far as the TRL crowd goes, they know who PRINCE is, their just not up to date on his genius, because since 1991, PRINCE has pretty much been labeled R&B, not ROCK!!!

So they don't get the kind of talks from their parents like the Black folk do!!!
CAUSE MOST WHITE PPL who are 40+ don't support Prince any more, thou their are alot of them around, but even more blacks are still up to date on PRINCE, because we hear him on R&B/SOUL STATIONS still.
Including the New stuff!!!

NAACP, BET AWARDS, ESSENCE AWARDS, still support PRINCE!!!

The difference is being relevant with what you already did and then being relevant what with you do now, HUGE DIFFERENCE. Prince's support is not coming from a teen audience, i dont care how many peeps know him, knowing aint shit. As far as white/black ive been to 80+ Prince shows and the support is mixed, and always has been. Does RB radio still support Prince, of course they do, but look at what singles always get play from prince "Satisfied", "Call my Name" etc..Prince cannot get a song that isnt a ballad played by white radio, black radio, blue radio, red radio or any radio.

Yea, thats true, both of you know what your talking about LMAO!!!
I work in radio, and I know when it comes to relevance, he's still a superstar and everyone knows who he is, regardless if they own a cd of his or not!

Most kids I know, are familar with Black Sweat, and his ballads, because their highly requested and played on radio.

Black Sweat was played in Detroit on Channel 955. which is owned by CLEAR CHANNEL and a top 40 station who playes SPECIFICALLY for the Teen age demo!
