Because drugs can make you do things you know you shouldn't be doing. I'm also sure there was some physical abuse too. But I'm also sure that James apologized for it. A few years ago,the "mystery baby" rumors resurfaced when the mother talked about it in a magazine interview.She spoke of the "grandchild" that she never got to know...basically implying that Janet is hiding something.One of the other brothers chimed in too. Back then,we had several threads on it and I suggested that Janet should issue a strong statement denying it.I also said she should threaten a lawsuit against anyone who continues to spread this rumor in the media. | |

How true all this is? I don't know but this guy has a relative that was a member of switch. It amazes me that she has been able to hide this fact for so long. Where is the daugther (I heard she had a baby girl). Some rumors say the girl was raised in Grand Rapids with some of the Debarge relatives, others say Reba Jackson raised her. I don't know who she is,but I don't think she's Janet's secret daughter.That's Jackie's Jackson daughter, Brandi. If she is Janet's daughter that means Janet had her when she was only 16 & it also means Janet is a grandmother because Brandi has a child of her own. | |

Back in the day, I believe it was Rock and Soul magazine, Etterlene gave an interview and talked about the dad being white. Debarge is not a Latino sounding name at all. Completely French. It's funny how all them Debarges, but especially El (his name may be one of the main reasons people thought they were Latino), James and Chico all look Latino. Bobby looks more white to me.The Debarges have a really distinctive look. I have been around biracial people all my life and have some in family and have been mistaken for being biracial, but I have never seen any biracial people that looked like them.
As far as I know, the dad isn't in touch with the kids. if you see that Vibe article from a year ago, there is a pic of him in it. Funny, but the kids look nothing like their parents, but they all have a similar look. And it's funny, but growing up in the 80s, I never knew anyone that thought they were Latino. Everyone either thought they were black or knew they were part white.
