Mint Condition

I really like this song. It's not complex and its commerical but something about it really sounds nice to me. What do you think?

By the way, is the background music real or a track?

This song is in heavy rotation on my Ipod. I am kinda going through what the song is describing at the present. When you asked if the music is "real or a "track", what do you mean? If you are asking if they play their own instruments, then yes. I believe that they are they are all playing or have input in programing all of the sounds that are heard on this song. Stokely, does indeed play drums, so I am willing to believe that it is him, playing the steel drums at the begining.

Yeah, its a great song, That, along with 'back and forth', 'moan' and 'right here' get the most play from me off the e-life album.

And yes, they are playing the instruments, with a touch of some digital sounds included in the beat.

Yeah i'm going to see these cats friday night in charlotte.
Jon B is opening. Yeah this is one of the hottest tracks on
the E-Life cd. Yes stokely is playing the steel pans on this
track. I play this one along with right here, golddigger,
gratitude, moan, queen of come here go away and the bonus track
us often.

Yes, I wondered if they were playing their own instruments.

What do you think the song is describing?

Are you guys/girls new to Mint Condition? The reason I ask that is that you're wondering if they play their own instruments. After seven CDs (technically 8) and a live DVD, that's a surprising question.
Yeah, Stokley rocks the steel pans in their songs.
I suggest "Definition Of A Band" and "From The Mint Factory" as required listening with these guys. They have some great songs but those two CDs in my opinion are superb.

The song is about two people who realize that their relationship has come to an end. It's reality.

Blaque, having all their CD's, I am VERY familiar with Mint and know that they play their own instruments. Your not the only one that knows about this band, or their music for that matter. However, there may be some on the board who may not be as familar with them as you and I might be and I was just trying to help them out.

I never claimed to be the "only one that knows about this band".
If you read the CREDITS in the CDs you own, you will see that Stokley is credited with playing the steel drums on their records.
I wasn't trying to be offensive. I asked what I did because it is common knowledge to most people who are familiar with the Mint that they play their own instruments. That's what would prompt the question about being new to them - a reasonable conclusion to come to given that they are practically the only black R&B band that gets any mainstream R&B press.

Yes, I know that Stokely plays the steel drum on the CD as well as many other percussion instruments. It's funny that you say that they are one of the few bands that get any mainstream press. The way that I find out that they have something new, is when I am on here or on Itunes. I did not know that they had put out something new until someone on the org, posted something about their present CD, a few weeks ago. If it were not for you guys, I would have never known.

Yeah, and that sucks. What I basically meant was that most of the other R&B bands are on MySpace and don't have a national following.

Of course I've heard of them and enjoyed their music before, I just don't really pay attention to some artists, I know what sounds good to me. I've never been a big music purchaser (yipes) although I've always loved music -- other priorities, I guess. boxed

Just saw the show friday night. Jon B opened for them.
Great show. The band strutted out with white shirts and jeans with the
exception of O'Dell who was decked out in all white. They opened with
the E Life interlude before jumping into gratitude from the new cd. They rocked
most of the old hits and also played baby boy baby girl and nothing let to
say from the new cd. Stokely was great on vocals as usual.
My only disappointment this time around was they didn't play forever in your
eyes with Jeff jammin on the sax or any musical interludes with jeff on the sax.
He only played the sax for the opening interlude E-Life. You never get the same show all the time with these guys anyway. Nevertheless great show.
