Rick Rubin multi-genre music Genius? as reclusive as he seems to be, Rick Rubin has singlehandedly resuscitated (or breathed new life into) the careers of artists like Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Chilli Peppers, Metallica... He seems to be a multi-genre music genius who doesn't get the props he deserves, at least in a "mainstream" sense as far as accolades.
if prince were to ever allow an outside producer to produce him, Rick might be the most interesting choice. dude's come a long way since the Beastie Boys | |

He has come a long way, but that's not to diminish his giant contributions to the genre of rap.

I hesitate to call a producer a genius, because it's difficult for me to know what they did vs what the artist did, especially if they're producing a band that plays all their own instruments & writes their own material.
But his track record kind of say it all. He's revitalized so many legends' careers. And he lets them take the glory, while those in the know say "it's produced by Rick Rubin, you know what that means!" He gets involved, but in a way that allows the best of the artist to shine. My Legacy
