I work in radio, and I know when it comes to relevance, he's still a superstar and everyone knows who he is, regardless if they own a cd of his or not! Most kids I know, are familar with Black Sweat, and his ballads, because their highly requested and played on radio. Black Sweat was played in Detroit on Channel 955. which is owned by CLEAR CHANNEL and a top 40 station who playes SPECIFICALLY for the Teen age demo! Great. You work in radio. So that means ONLY YOU know what you're talking about in this instance and NO ONE ELSE. ANYWHERE. But I'm always a tad bit suspicious of people that say they "work" in a particular field and then they don't say what they do in that particular field. . nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Well for the record.....I worked in music retail for a decade and a half, assisted the buyers in purchasing all forms of music for the company, and the main person i assisted was Sonya Askew who worked and wrote an article monthly for Vibe and was this companys main buyer for RB/Jazz/Gospel/Rap etc...and to this day maintain whatever friends and contacts i have within the industry that still work in this dieing industry. As for the rest, "Black Sweat" got play very selectively , it did nothing for the most part, ballad wise that is all Prince can get play with "widely" im not talking about 3 stations in one market, im talking wide. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

First of all, alot of young Black Teens, are familar with PRINCE!!! They may see him as a Legend or their Moms and Pops Music, but keep in mind alot of these kids no 1999, When Doves Cry, Kiss, Black Sweat, Call my name, & The Greatest Romance! Maxwell has been missing in action for 5 years now, his music is memorable, but if PRINCE was to set foot onto 106 & Park, those teens would go CRAZY!!! Because they know how magical he is, as a musician/performer....He's big as MICHEAL JACKSON!!!! They hear about his talents and music through BET, MTV, VH1 and of course the Ne-Yo's, Beyonce's, Pharrell William's, and as far as the TRL crowd goes, they know who PRINCE is, their just not up to date on his genius, because since 1991, PRINCE has pretty much been labeled R&B, not ROCK!!! So they don't get the kind of talks from their parents like the Black folk do!!! CAUSE MOST WHITE PPL who are 40+ don't support Prince any more, thou their are alot of them around, but even more blacks are still up to date on PRINCE, because we hear him on R&B/SOUL STATIONS still. Including the New stuff!!! NAACP, BET AWARDS, ESSENCE AWARDS, still support PRINCE!!! Prince aint relevant at all. And I'm a young folk so I know what my generation listens to. My siblings just make fun of him. I've been in the car plenty of times when the driver or my passanger skipped over a p song that was playing. If P were to go on 106 they would only clap because he's Prince, an icon and influence to the ppl they listen to, not because they thought Purple Rain or SOTT were great albums. Hell, i doubt they've even heard of SOTT. Now this isnt to so say there are some young fans like me that dig him, but there are very few. Maxwell is probably going to be in the same boat as P, irrelevant.

Did it ever occur to you guys that the parents of these teenagers watching this show on BET may be in their late 30's/early 40's? They may be Maxwell fans.
Hey, I'm just saying.....
