Okay, Let's Talk About Janet's Costumes

I'm sure the concert kicks butt and I look forward to it, but um, what's up with the outfits? Check these three out:

I have to say as a loving fan who adored the show both times I've seen it...the costumes were fucking god awful.

The first outfit - I get it. Totally retro, almost funny. IT's cute. But the red dress, the horse hair/Thunderdome getup, the semi polic outfit - most of that shit was so fug!
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

You ain't lying. These costumes kill me. And that tiny sailor hat is a thorn in my side.

Not only do I not care for the actual design they just look cheap.

As I said before, my all time favorite Janet outfit is the cream getup with that white hat. Ovah.

As sailor outfits go, the one I adore to this day was for another artist and that was designed by D&G. Loved it. Actually, I loved most of the outfits from that tour.

I haven't seen Kylie live (yet) but I had great seats for The Girlie Show and I swear the outfits--sailor suit, emcee tuxedo getup or whatever and a few others--it just looked superior. It looked like a damn fashion show when she came down the aisle.

We could talk about the great reviews the tour is getting, or how she's selling out dates. But no, let's bitch about the clothes! lol I love it.

Madonna's worn fug ass clothing on tour before (The Girlie Show had great costumes? Seriously?!?!?!), Michael Jackson's worn fug ass clothing on tour before, Kylie Minogue's worn fug ass clothing on tour before, Mariah Carey's worn nothing BUT fug ass clothing on tour before....the list goes on and on.

Tour clothing is meant to be comfortable and flashy, not something that looks chic in a still shot. People bitched when Janet wore jeans and a tank top on tour, now it's this.

I'm not mad, I just think it's ridiculous. lol

I don't see Madonna's fans whining about that horrible white-and-puprle unitard she wore on the Confessions tour (well, hey, maybe they think it's haute couture) - probably because it didn't make a fucking difference in the quality of the show! And neither do Janet's costumes.

She used 7 European designers, including Versace, for this tour. I don't think she was skimping.

love janet, seeing her tomorrow. her outfits compared to Madonna's or Kylie's always look horrible.

Donatella doesn't have half the talent her brother had so saying she designed the show doesn't mean much to me

Diff'rent strokes - I think the vast majority of tour clothing is cheesy shit, but it doesn't affect my concert experience on way or the other. lol You certainly aren't going to convince me that these costumes are somehow vastly inferior to anything Madge has worn in concert in a long time.

Donatella doesn't have half the talent her brother had so saying she designed the show doesn't mean much to me

Please note that my comment was related to cost, not taste.

cost don't mean shit if it looks like shit.

even the spice girls managed a better look for the road than Janet.

Artists who don't dance in concert obviously have a much wider range of clothing choices.

But hey, must be a good concert if people are complaining about the clothing. It's always gonna be *something*.

why can't i talk about her clothes if i think it's ugly? why is that ridiculous, and what does madonna have to do with anything. if madonna's clothes are ugly then they're ugly, but i'm talking about the costumes for the RockWithcu Tour. the costumes are apart of the whole production and open to critique are they not? just like the dance routines, the lighting, the song selection, execution etc.

and you did read my opening line did you not? that the show kicks butt and i plan on going.

eek Who is stopping you from talking about anything? I'm saying I just don't get the emphasis on tour costumes - for anyone's tour. They've never made a difference to me. George Michael wore the same thing he's worn for the past 10 years (with the sunglasses) when I saw him, and it didn't bug me.

What does Madonna have to do with anything? I dunno, better ask the first person who brought her up in the thread. lol

and to be fair.

Showgirl I was bad and uninspired in my opinion... and a few of the X Costumes are serious WTF moments. On A Night Like This was WTF the whole tour

Fever & Showgirl Homecoming were terrfic

Blonde Ambition and Girlie and most of DWT were great

RIT, Confessions and Sticky and Sweet are a bit spotty.
