Bobby said that at the beginning of the song? I thought that was someone else.

I agree that the music industry has gone to the shits, but I wouldn't write off El like that.

I wasn't writing him off at all, please don't get me wrong. Like I said, I dug Degarge's shit.

El is a great falsetto singer, don't get me wrong. But can he master that end part of "Love 2 the 9's" or "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World"? Or can he even master all the vocals on that "Second Coming" intro that Prince had on the "Controversy" tour? I don't know. That's a pretty tough act to follow. So I'm gonna give this one to my purple hero.

I think El could. The big question is could he hit all the notes in "Adore".

I read that Bobby had a 4 octave range and that he definitely was not a counter tenor

Neither El or Bobby is a countertenor smile

Just tenors, right? Are you a vocal coach, Funkenstein?

Yea, El is a tenor.
And no, I'm not a vocal coach wink
I've just looked into that stuff as a hobby of sorts. In addition to that, I have many friends who are skilled classical singers (opera), and I occasionally have discussions with them about these kinds of things smile
I also have a deep passion for late 60's and early 70's male soul vocal groups.
So overall, I'm very interested in the subject at hand lol

I am by no means an expert on the matter, though lol

I heard a song called "another chance" where El sings in his lower register and I am not for it, but it could be that he is trying out of his comfort. But still, the man still has the goods. Amazing that coke use did not fuck up his piped

I wouldn't even go there funk. I know Phillip could easily cover any song that El has recorded. Can El do the same with a Phillip tune? Can he lead a sax like Phillip did in Reasons? Can El ad lib like Phillip did at the end of "I'll Write A Song For You"? I could go on and on but I won't, I'll just laugh. I do like El's voice, but he's not even better than Prince in the falsetto department, how could anyone compare him to the all time greats?
