This is one of the many episodes that they need to show on the "Best Of" ones.

I agree..I remember seeing this episode when it first aired. I also remember reading about this in Right On! magazine where they wrote about Rick doing this film. This of course was before Purple Rain. The name of the film was to be "Alice In Ghetto Land". It was to be Rick, the Stone City Band, and Teena Marie as Alice. Sounds to me like P beat Rick to the punch. Oh well... That's why u should never give away too much about what you're planning to do. Don't know why it didn't happen. It would have been huge.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

ONLY Rick James could talks to Don Cornelius like that. I LOOOOVE it. But I guess that movie Rick talked about never happened. Or maybe Prince did it with Purple Rain? Oh, snap! Did I just say that? You f'in' right...I got a gun...oh, wait, wrong time period.

Rick always had a great sense of humor in his interviews lol This clip looks like it's from the 'Street Songs' era.Back in those days,Rick talked alot about the movie that he was planning.I've heard two different titles for it: "Alice In Ghettoland" and "Spice Of Life".The plan was to have it in theatres by 1982 but it never materialized.

Did you guys notice his backup singer,Val Young? I'm not used to seeing her without the blond wig wink

As someone else pointed out,Rick's biggest mistake was talking about these projects before he began working on them.In 1981/82,he was going around talking about making a movie. He took too long and Prince beat him to the punch, lol. Also around that time,he was bragging about a sexy girl group that he was gonna put together.Once again,he took too long and Prince created Vanity 6,releasing their album in late 1982...months before the Mary Jane Girls project came out.Notice that Prince never talked about any of his upcoming projects....he just went in there and did it.
