Suspicious my ass. Hell, it took me months to notice my Deniece Williams CD was gone. I know who took it too because he had been checking it out months earlier. I came across the empty case in the slot and didn't notice the CD gone till months later when I got in the mood to hear some Deniece. And the worst thing about it, is that the bastard's dick wasn't worth a damn. That little thing might be worth a Shitney Houston CD but not a Deniece Williams CD. lol

You don't know shit about fidelity until you've heard the smooth warble of a cylinder.

Most albums are still sold in a physical format — 449 million were sold on CDs in 2007, while 50 million were sold digitally, according to Nielsen SoundScan

That puts things into perspective.

lol Why would I buy a MicroSD card with a bunch of crummy sounding files on it? If I want crummy sounding files, I'll download them and put them on the SD card I ALREADY OWN! Man, the industry just doesn't get it AT ALL! It's like they're TRYING to miss the point. disbelief

Vinyl keeps appealing to me more every day. Something about holding a real piece of work in your hands: proper artwork for instance.

So who's gonna design the covers for SD cards? Or how about micro-sd? It's a fucking stupid idea that only appeals to those who like their music played through iPods (no offence just generalising). I can't stand paying iTunes money for some 128 bit piece of crap that sounds bloody awful when put through my stereo. And why charge so much when the record company has had to do fuck all except make it available? Digital downloads are all very well but when I want something decent I go and buy it on cd or, on the very very rare occasion, vinyl. How do I look at my collection on iTunes? Oh that's really gonna be worth something in years to come isn't it.

An uncle of mine has The White Album. It's an original. I don't even want to think how much it is worth. Now would it be of the same value if it was on his hard-dive?

Digital music is worthless.

Plus you can roll-up on vinyl and snort a line on a cd. You try smoking crack through a mouse!

VainAndy: SD card -

that's about the actual size, too.
You can store a lot of info on one - nowadays you could fit a whole DVD on one along with the CD and the artwork. You'd need a card reader, though.
Personally, I think flash drives are the way to go since all they require is a USB port, which almost all computers have and the data transfer rates are higher with the newer solid state flash drives. Its inevitable that the media format is going to change but I don't think CDs are going anywhere just yet. The industry is trying new things. They just promote it like its a done deal to see if the public will accept it as such.

Unlike CD's & vinyls, a DJ can't scratch SD cards! disbelief lol

I will be honest, I'm one of those people who buys a CD, upload it to my computer and never really touch the physical CD again. It just becomes more bulk around my place. Even though I like liner notes and art, it's just clutter.

Mannn, I see so many DJs these days with fake turntables. Spinning a record that makes the "scratch" sounds only, but are playing CDs and mp3s from an Apple laptop. That is very common.

That would be my own preference for the dominating digital format for future as well. They ARE actually pretty handy and you can implement an USB port to pretty much any digital device. For data transfer at least, CD-Rs / CD-RWs were never really that great.

That’s usually what I end up doing. You know you have too many CDs when you have to start rearranging your living space and buying new pieces to accommodate them especially when you've already got a crap load of books.
