Much love for Marshall Tucker Band and Toy Caldwell

The best description I ever heard of Toy Caldwell is that "he's one of those guys whose guitar is connected straight to his soul".

This is a very, very underrated band. They are not in the RnR HOF but I think they should be.

I've been reading up on Toy Caldwell and he was one helluva good guy. You need to read this story about some fans running into him on an elevator, and him inviting them to his hotel room to jam all night long. Wow, it is a GREAT story.

Here are two videos. The first one, "24 Hours at a Time" is almost 10 minutes long but you will not be able to take your eyes off the musicians.

The second one is "Can't You See" and Toy sings the bejeezus out of it.

24 Hours at a Time (I think that's Charlie Daniels on fiddle)

Can't You See?

This is greatness.

DID I MENTION JANET JACKSON AND MADONNA FRENCH KISS EACH OTHER IN THE "24 HOURS AT A TIME" VIDEO?

AND THAT MORISSEY AND ROBIN THICKE POP IN FOR BACK-UP HARMONIES WHILE GEORGE MICHAEL PLAYS THE WASHBOARD IN THE "CANT'T YOU SEE" VIDEO?

I'M NOT TELLING YOU WHERE, YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WATCH BOTH VIDEOS.

Geez, you people avoid real rock like the plague.

I heard of this band because of the song "Can't You See". What other songs of theirs were popular?

"Heard it in a Love Song" was their biggest hit.

"This Ol' Cowboy" is a fan favorite. Well, a RodeoSchro favorite, at least. smile

"Take the Highway" got a lot of play back in the day. This performance is a total jam, and the first minute of the video is priceless. Yes, we DID dress like that back in the day.
