"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I love, love, love him too, even though he is from Belgium but true, he sang in French, so it counts. Of all the French artists I collect I own most Brel and Édith Piaf records. Totally devoted to their voices, the way they deliver their vocals and their lyrics. Pascal Obispo and Sinclair were big in France when I lived there, but I loved Sinclair because his funky music. I have albums of all three, besides the moderns like Mc Solaar, Ophelie Winter, Bob Sinclair, Air, Cassius, Justice, I also love the classics, like Françoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg, Sylvie Vartan, Dalida and some peeps I am sure I am forgetting about.

I was over on the Politics and Religion thread and came across this snippet of music that caught my attention.
I did a search but didn't find a whole lot. Someone named Chenard Walcker who did this piece under the name The Walcker Crew and some other African flavored stuff. If anyone can point me to more sound clips of this artist I' appreciate it. There's something about this tune that is under my skin.

GAINSBOURG, GAINSBOURG AND GAINSBOURG
Every human being should hold a copy of 'the Ballad of Melody Nelson', one of the greatest albums, both musically and lyrically (certainly in my top 20, and believe me I listen to many different types of music and hold countless CDs and MP3s,,,,) Enjoy!

Lammastide said: My favorite native French act would probably be sisters Laura and Chris Maine, who made up the now-defunct '90's R&B duo Native.
They attempted to give a new flavour to french soul (which was very unpopular), dunno what they're doing now As far as the wider Francophone world, I'm really feeling Quebecois singer Julie Crochetiere right now.
So u should like Linda Lemay just the same Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity
