CEDIA 2008 One week after the Democratic National Convention...
...I got to spend about a week in Denver attending the CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) trade show. To satisfy the loose requirement (and I do mean loose ) that posts in this forum should be about MUSIC, part of my itinerary was attending a concert by the current incarnation of... ...The Doobie Brothers Just one less original member and they'd have to change their name to The Doobie Brother! This was a show sponsored by Monster Cable and Speaker Craft, two of the show's exhibitors. So that I don't go full bore techno-geek , i'll just focus on 2 manufacturers. My award for classiest exhibit goes to the makers of the legendary MC 275 stereo amplifier... ...McIntosh (The meeting rooms on top are a nice touch) The right side of their exhibit was most interesting... ...Notice the wood floor. The wall included some cool history... ...from the Rock era. The "Out-of-the-box" award goes to Speaker Craft... ...who incorporated a jungle vibe. They also featured periodic performances by a group called... ...Vaudeville Cirque Another exhibit (seemingly out of place) featured finely framed music/movie/sports memorabelia... ...Of course I had to read them the riot act (in a nice way of course) on the fact that Hendrix never played a Fender Squier and couldn't have personally signed one. It's not even strung properly. (Fender's Squier line of guitars weren't introduced until '82.) In closing, here's two mighty fine Denver restaurants: Gumbo's (Cajun/Creole) - Lo-Do District Welton St. Cafe/Mona's Wings & Tings (Soul Food) - Five Points District tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Wow....looks like a great time!
I was going to ask if you got to see your sister and it looks like you did. I remembered you had family in Denver. You remember Amy? She lives in Denver now, too....you have met her at a couple of gigs with LWP. She is my little jazz aficionado Glad you are back safe and sound. "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.
