I'm watching "The Best of Soul Train" right now

Right now, they're playing Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" lol Remember in the 80s when Madonna was always played on R&B radio?

The guests are LeVert and James Ingram.

This must be a new "old" episode. I've never seen it before, lol.

I hope they run new "old" episodes soon though, they're re-airing Donna Summer and the Staples' 1984 performance next week. lol

Yeah,it's one that I've never seen either.Based on the songs that they played ("Typical Male" by Tina Turner..."Ain't Nothing Going On But The Rent" by Gwen Guthrie),I'd say that this episode originally aired sometime in the fall of 1986.

The episode took a bad turn when they showed Lionel Richie's awful video "Dancing On The Ceiling" barf barf barf That's truly one of the worst songs/videos of all time!!

That Donna Summer/Staples Singers episode wasn't very good.It originally aired in December 1984.I want them to dig a little deeper and pull out some old episodes that they haven't already shown in the past few years.

Soul Train sure brings back a lot of good memories for me. I'm glad its still on out there in cable land.

I lived in Chicago back in the day where the show first originated as an after school kind of black American Bandstand alternative with just local kids dancing on a pretty plain set in their every day scool clothes and rarely did they have any guests.

I always wondered if Don Cornelius was perpetually on downers or something. That guy has the drollest delivery of anyone I've ever seen.

Later on when the show blew up and went on to national syndication in LA he could have the biggest guest stars on and when he introduced them his excitement level (if you could even call it that) was like he was talking about dog food or something.

But you gotta love Don. Later on after I got used to him his deadpan became a beloved part of the whole flava for me. That deep baritone was good enough all by itself without the need for any variance in inflection.

That clip was freakin' hilarious but Keenan's protrayal of DC was way too lively if you ask me.

Thanks for the laughs. lol

He portrayed how Don was in the seventies but mixed it with his oldness. lol

I got excited two weeks ago when they showed the Brothers Johnson/Dells episode thinking that they would start showing some new "old" episodes instead of the same ones they showed between Dec '06 through Dec '07. I guess we'll have to wait for those new "oldies"

Yeah it was great Soul, they tried to sneak that episode past us I think. They should just keep showing new "oldies"

That Brothers Johnson episode was a repeat also. It was one of the last new "old episodes" they showed before re-repeating them.

Both of y'all are wrong about the Levert episode being a new "old episode". Y'all just don't remember it because it was such a shitty episode. I remember recording it and throwing it in the trash can afterwards. If I'm not mistaken, didn't they play a Shitney Houston song for the line dance? That's the very moment I threw my recording away and I know you remember that because you said in the thread made by TheAudience, that you thought about me when that song came on. lol
