What is really rare is The War CD single. I've been looking for that for a long time.

But you know, rare isn't always a guarantee for good stuff. I know DJs and collectors who only buy rare stuff, and they are missing out on some pretty good music.

I also have an original copy of RAMP's album. The owner of one of the record stores I regularly visit played (and tried to sell me) 'Paris Soul Food', but even though it sounded pretty cool, I know I wouldn't spin it regularly, since I'm more into sweet soul. Buuut anyways lol

The Magnum album is pretty darn rare. I've got it on CD, it's a really cool album cool

Some of the rarer stuff I have in my collection include,

Smoke - Risin'

An obscure sweet soul group from Kansas City, Missouri. They released one album in 1976. Probably worth somewhere around 200$

Eddie Hazel - Game Dames And Guitar Thangs

Eddie's solo debut, got it for around 10$, worth a whole lot more lol

The Gap Band - The Gap Band (Tattoo)

The Gap Bands self-titled release on the Tattoo label (not to be confused with their self-titled Mercury album). I've only seen one copy of this album ever in my life (... and I, of course, immediately bought it lol)

The Natural Four - Best Of (CD)

Rare and out of print CD compilation featuring the Natural Four. Good luck trying to find this one lol

Rick James - Bustin' Out Of L Seven (CD)

Rare and out of print CD pressing of Rick's second album. Asking prices on Ebay and Amazon are from 90$ upwards.

The Eight Minutes - An American Family

Rare r&b album released in the early seventies. Mine is in near mint condition smile

Mutiny - Mutiny On The Mamaship (CD)

Rare and out of print Japanese pressing of this great funk album. Amazon has one copy on sale at the moment, the asking price is 328.10$

What rare stuff do you have in your music collection? smile

Vinyl - GUY - Teddys Jam 2 - 12" Promo biggrin

Vinyl -Keith sweat - Why me baby - 12" Promo cool

Vinyl - Prince - Come on - 12" promo

Vinyl - Prince - The Rainbow Children - Album

Those that I posted are good examples of records rare and good. The Salt 45 (it's actually a white band, hence the name) is probably one of the rarest Funk 45s ever. Only about 20 copies are known. The last one went on Ebay for about $4,000, a buddy of mine had to sell it cause he needed cash ...

But nothing beats a Kamasutra tape! biggrin

Magnum is a fantastic album. The OG sounds much better than the reissue. There's a 45 of the song "Evolution" which I'm desperately trying to hunt down ..

I just got an orgnote from someone asking me if I sell the salt 45. I need to make a clarification: I don't own the OG pressing of this 45. I actually misread the thread title, I thought it was about the rarest LPs in general. smile

I own most of the records I posted, but there are some that I don't have (but friends have). The only person I know who owned a copy of Salt was a DJ from Munich, who got it from a member of the Poets of Rhythm, who found a dozen copies in a record store in New Orleans in the 1990s. These copies are the only ones known.

Anxiety

i should have someone go through my CDs and vinyl and tell me what's rare, cuz i don't have a clue. 99% of *my* vinyl is from the 80s, and a modest amount of it is import stuff (bauhaus 12" singles, etc.). plus i inherited my mom's vinyl and a lot of that is rock albums from the '60s, though most of it's pretty banged up.

i have a few CDs that are "rare" to me - some out of print Paisley albums, some bootleggy lookin' sandy bernhard concert CDs i bought at the merch table, a limited edition/signed version of "the burning world" by swans, a rare import best-of collection by tragic mulatto, stuff like that. i don't think other people would be impressed, but they're important to me.

NPG- Exodus (vinyl)

Cameo - Style (LP)

Anita Baker - Songress (CD) on Beverly Glen

This is some of the rare stuff I have that I can think of. Not to mention the rare singles.

I can surely see that style lp from cameo being rare, and underrated. You would look over it just because the cover is so low key.

eek That one is so rare? I am sure I have it somewhere and never considered it something special hmmm.

I just checked on ebay and almost all of 2pac's singles are going between $20 and $80. I didn't know he was that valuable.

Wow I got a Promo Maxisingle 4 'I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto' on vinyl with sticker.

What's it worth?

Track List:

I wonder if heaven got a ghetto (Soulpower Hip Hop LP Version) / Soulpower Hip Hop Instrumental / Soulpower LP mix / Soulpower LP Instrumental) Promo
