Albert Joseph Brown III AL B. sure ! I bought "In effect mode " 1988. I love all 8 tracks! "Nite and Day "is the bomb " oooh this love is so" , man. i love all songs..... Off on Your Own (Girl) ,If I'm Not Your Lover and Just a Taste of Lovin are so damm good... PLEASE AL B. SURE... come back.,.. still waiting for upcoming Cd.. 8 Essential songs . that´s all that i can say... PERFECTION

This album played a very key role in my growing up/teen years. Every track was perfection on this album. Although, looking back on it now, it's still good, just I never noticed how off he was on some of his notes and vocals. I guess that wasn't bad for a 19 or 20 year old that had just won a contest.
I still consider the first half of the album some of the best slow songs of the late 80s. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

As way out as this may sound, but this is easily one of the most important R&B albums ever. We hadn't seen "Young & Hunk R&B" yet. Al B. was one of the first cats to blend the bod boy/sensitive boy for the late teens/early 20-somethings.
Plus, it was basically flawless production/engineering mainly on Kyle West's part. He made that bad-signin' muthafucka sound like he was Marvin and Prince combined. Brilliant with the Slow Side/Fast Side move as well. One of those rare albums that you could play straight through without skipping, and for my senior year-to-college it became my soundtrack summer of 88 and MANY PANTIES was droppin' in my ride due to his cuts! I had this album back in the day.I now have it on CD.It was one of the biggest,most-played albums of the summer of '88.Excellent all the way through.My favs are...
"Ooh This Love Is So" "Off On Your Own (Girl)" "Rescue Me" and "Killing Me Softly" are great songs too.
In 1988,it seemed that Al B.Sure was headed for major superstardom,but his next album 'Private Times...and the whole 9' slowed the momentum.The album was bloated,over-long and just plain boring,with way too much filler.He should have kept things simple,like he did on the debut album (8 cool tracks,no filler). | |

Teddy Riley WAS/IS Kyle West!!!!! There was an interview a few years ago in Vibe where he admitted it!!!!! He also admitted he was the producer behind Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two"!!!!!

You know, I would add Janet's RN, New Editions's Heartbreak album and Johnny Gill's Motown debut album to that list. Those albums were very instrumental in shaping the late 80s and early 90s (musically) for me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
