Justin Timberlake about his upcoming album "I’m writing and producing with a 19-year-old pop singer, a 29-year-old folk singer, a rap/rock band from my hometown and a 23-year-old R&B hip-hop girl from Staten Island. I can go wherever the hell I want. Each thing you experiment with, the more you try, the more it improves your own work and the more it allows you to make progress doing your next album."
from CQ Britain! a autumn 2008 or early 2009 release is planned. I know many dislike him but I really think he tries to be a serious songwriter. I like the fact he doesn't work with Timbaland once again and tries out new things. So, his work for Madonna wa sprobaly his last with Timbaland as well.

I can't see him coming out with anything until late 2009. There's been no news about him recording his next solo album, it's been more about his acting and working with other artists.

I agree, I doubt it will be released THIS autumn. But I guess 2009 is realistic. I really think Timberlake is brave to leave Timbaland. I dislike his voice and don't fidn him charming but my respect grow a lot in the past months. As said before I believe he wants to be a genuine songwriter, and his second album was a step forward from Justified.

stick with what got u where u are *coughwhitney/janet*cough* no, I don't think it's the right way. He worked with Timbaland on his solo-albums and people allready say they're married which shows that JT and Timbo are linked together too much. Probably Madonna inspired him to change his style. I read in an Rolling Stone article from 2006 that he actually wanted to do a rock album but Timbaland talked him out of it. The only hing I despise is when people work with 100 differentproducers on one album. That's what I disliked on FutureSex... the Timbaland beats didn't fit with Will.I.Am's songs and it sounds horrible.

can't he just go away? "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yeah, but to do that they've got to have some talent to do it successfully. Look at the Robbie Williams/Guy Chambers split to see how badly that can go when a star gets too confident and cocky in his own abilities - and I think Timberlake has even less talent than Williams

He may have the hits still coming though there have been quite a few failures on his watch, if you are gonna survive as a POP artist you really have to mix things up, there is too much phoning it in from POP artists now as we know. Ah, the continued success of Timbaland over the last 5 years - another unresolved mystery I fear may never be answered.

Stephen Duffy, Mekanik... plus Robbie did more stupid things "press wise" than Justin and Kanye West put together, he acted like the guys from Oasis on crack at times, so that also led too many of his issues, maybe people just didnt want to work with him "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

He did write justified in 2 weeks and listened to Off the Wall nonstop
I have a feeling he's already peaked though and his sales will go down like everyone else. Nelly Furtado is coming back soon too.

If he wants to work with some new people and try some new sounds, good for him! Artists who stick with the same producers never really grow and evolve....they just make the same album over and over. And let's face it...Timbaland is a good producer but he's running out of tricks.

:-\ I've watched video footage of the making of Justified and it consisted of Pharrell trying out chords on the piano while Justin was in the control room hanging out with guests. Sometimes he would sit beside Pharrell but mainly I did not see... ANY input from Mr. Timberlake. That was like 6 years ago and he was still really young enough to have just begun his journey, and I haven't seen the making of FS/LS but something tells me Justin is believing his own hype taking the reins with this upcoming album.

That was like 6 years ago and he was still really young enough to have just begun his journey, and I haven't seen the making of FS/LS but something tells me Justin is believing his own hype taking the reins with this upcoming album. Most the stuff was written by Pharrell and Chad BEFORE assembling Justified, as it was stuff rejected by Michael Jackson. The rest of the album was fodder/filler. The singles off FS/LS are still amazing. People that like Prince and/or Michael Jackson and do not like those singles are prejudiced by his sure sometimes offensive behaveour. Still, he took the popular torch off peeps like Prince AND Michael Jackson and reaches an international arena, instead of most US singular R&B blabla. And Michael Jackson wrote SOME of his own hits, but certainly not all. So stop trying to make draw conclusions Timberlake isn't in the same arena as MJ because of that, cuz he is; catering music to youngsters, no pun intended. He loses respect becuz of he is young and enjoying his privileges. I just like the singles and leave the hating to the peeps that feel that going off like that enpowers them. Rock Your Body might be a Michael Jackson reject, it still rocks MY world, just like the first two songs of Jordan Knights' record; the Jam & Lewis jams 'Give It To You' and 'A Different Party'. Some people will just not let young guys grow up and make kewl music. [Edited 9/14/08 16:03pm]

if he just didn't sound so incredibly arrogant, i would applaud him for venturing out. HE doesn't even make his sound, that credit lies with the producers he works with. these pop stars a trip when they start to think they're "artistes." An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

You know, if he was just talking about side projects he is producing BEFORE working on his next album, this quote would make more sense.

I'm hopeful that his music will improve - if so I'll completely jump on the JT bandwagon. He's taken a promising first step by ditching Timbaland.
