Coldplay pay tribute to A-ha (the most underrated band in history) Magne joins Coldplay on stage in Oslo
2008-09-19 Tonight, Coldplay performed at the Oslo Spektrum in Norway. As many artists have done when performing in Norway, Coldplay gave a nod to one of the most successful Norwegian bands ever. However they didn't stop there. During the first encore, Chris Martin mentioned a-ha as 'one of our favorite bands of all time' and invited Magne to join them on stage to play 'Hunting High and Low.' Chris also said that Magne is 'the best keyboard player in the world.' _____ Check out the following a-ha albums ..... Minor Earth, Major Sky Memorial Beach Analogue

Those words need to be etched in stone, this is the most "slept" on band that has influenced more bands in this generation than any. Their last three studio albums are possibly the greatest run of albums of any band in history and they only get better, cant wait for their 2009 release, I LOVE the 2 new songs i have heard so far, and we cant forget the excellent solo albums they all had this year too. 'take on me' is totally unrepresentative of the rest of their work..in fact it probably did them more harm than good in the UK and US.....listen without prejudice...I have made some compilation cds and 'converted' all my friends who had the wrong perception.....
check out 'summer move on ' and 'rolling thunder' on youtube....magnificent

check out 'summer move on ' and 'rolling thunder' on youtube....magnificent totally agree, i converted many on a-Ha, many who always thought of them as the "cartoon" band. were suddenly blown away when i played them things from their more non "pop" era which is everything from "east of the sun" all the way till today, not that the pop era of their work was bad, but its all about growing and a-Ha has grown into one of the best bands over the last 25 years and are number one on my list of favorite bands. I like "lifelines" alot, its very mixed in terms of direction, and i know the band feel that they were going in too many directions with it and felt no one was pulling it together, but it has alot of gems on it, especially the title cut, which is one of the best videos ever made. As for Magne, he has really let his talents show since 2000, he has gone from being the "quiet one" in the 80's to an almost leader now. When i played Mags solo stuff for friends that didnt know of his work, they have thought it was Chris martin "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Even though I dislike Coldplay with a vengeance, I do love Hunting High And Low, which I still think is A-ha's best song ever.
