In 1979,Paul even jumped on the disco bandwagon (slightly) with this cool dance number "Goodnight Tonight"

I always thought this song was about suicide but on a Macca forums they told me I was wrong!!
eek eek

btw, not by the Wings but the unreleased McCartney song "Suicide" I like as well. It's one of his earliest songs.

Pretty much all of Band on The Run is decent. They had quite a few decent pop songs throughout the 70's - and some decent filler too. I really like Getting Closer, With A Little Luck, Wildlife, Get on The Right Thing, Venus & Mars/Rock Show, oh and Juniors Farm is great.

I thought Wingspan was really poor - as it drew no distinction between what was solo mcCartney, and what was Wings - so it seemed a bit pointless - particularly that disco mix of No more Lonely nights - awful. I thought it good they collected together Pauls solo stuff from his peak era - but as with most Paul compilations - i didnt think it did a good job of reflecting the quality of some of his output in the 70's. He's never really ahd a definitive greatest Hits collection - not one that didnt include the sometimes silly novelty songs he has been inclined to release. lennon gets a GH repackage every year - yet Macca completely ignores a lot of what he's done.

Isn't that the "Hits" disc... the other one is "History" ie. enriched listening for Wings-heads.

You're right.I gotta give that second disc a listen.Interestingly,it includes the 1978 song "Girlfriend" which Michael Jackson covered on 'Off The Wall'.I wonder how many MJ fans have heard the original?

Its one of Macca's few falsetto performances. Cant says i prefer it to MJs version though. The History disc is very good. Obviously NOTHING beats Maybe Im Amazed, but there's Junk, Every night, Too Many People (i loooove this one), Let Me Roll It - hell this CD is by far superior to the Hits disc.

I have a question for people -whats your favourite Wings B-Side? He did some ok b-sides. Id have to say Daytime nightime Suffering from the Goodnight Tonight single. Other cool ones are The Mess & Mamas Little Girl.

The live version got more airplay than the regular version.I guess some radio programmers thought the regular version was too disco-y? lol The live version has a fuller sound.
