That's one of my favorite D'Angelo songs.

The version on MySpace isn't the same as the Space Jam track.

Try about 11 years old. It's the original unreleased studio version...the "Space Jam" version is a remixed version, same vocal and instrumental takes. Not a single, what a load of bollocks.

I don't remember D being on Space Jam soundtrack.

It's not the instrumental track that was on the Space Jam soundtrack, but the vocal track and melody are the same.

I don't like it as much as I do the Space Jam version and it doesn't sound like Prince at all - the falsetto is foolin' ya.

Also, how does Digo know that D'Angelo played all of the instruments on this track?

shucks I think we can all agree that a 9 year gap is way too long for us to be waiting on D. And I though Maxwell was bad, I've been feening for D'Angelo to come out with something for so long that I won't even believe his album is actually coming out until I physically see it in the record store!

Here's the thing...an artist like D'Angelo (as well as Maxwell, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill - as crazy as she is) has to come out when the climate is right and y'all see how the climate is at the moment (see T-Pain, The Dream, Lil Wayne, just to name a few...). These type of artists take more risks than the average and what a lot of heads don't know about the game is that they're often times restricted creatively of taking such risks with their art because the "powers-that-be" shot calls on what these artists really want to do a lot of times. D'Angelo went thru a few diffrent drafts of "Voodoo" before the label decided to settle on what we have today (real talk). I seen it happen with Dwele with my own eyes (and don't sleep on that cat either because y'all haven't heard the best from that young brother...). Also, seeing how the whole neo-soul tag came into the game as a genre/tag as opposed to heads viewing as some genuine "newness" - these type of artists get boxed into a category which over a course of time won't allow them to grow out of that stage. John Legend, Musiq, and Alicia Keys (all decent artists which I don't knock at all) have been somewhat stand-ins for the real thing to return. D'Angelo (like Marvin Gaye and Sly Stone) has his demons which of course plays a big part in dude being off the radar for so long and it's no secret that drugs and alcohol played a huge part in his delay. Great art though comes from cats suffering or as cats within my peer say..."go thru some sh*t". A lot of times - out of that comes something truly brillant. Trust me y'all....we haven't seen nothin' yet. I did get the scoop from Raphael's (Saadiq) people that D lost all that weight and is cut once again (as well as clean and sober) and working hard on this new album. He's gonna be good y'all....I got a good feeling. Maxwell too
