What is wrong with letting Jonathan Ross play the Drums? It didn't diminish from Stevie's performance and it was hilarious watching Ross beating those drums. It wasn't undignified at all. It just shows the guy is good natured and not stuck up.

Well not wanting to get dragged into this... but fuck it I'm gonna anyway.

I saw Stevie on the opening night. I have no albums but am aware of his hits. I thought I was gonna cringe through I Just Called but it wasn't that bad. Quite nice actually. I got up and danced at the end when the funky numbers were played just like everyone else.

Some songs dragged on, audience participation was a little too frequent and I really can't be arsed singing (badly) "la dee la la leeee do do doooo" and so on. Never can at concerts. I'm there to hear them sing not a few thousand others.

The band set piece did drag on. 10 musicians ffs! The one guitarist was ok but generic, the other was better. Three drummers! Look, if you hit them and they make a bong or boom sound then they're drums ok. The keyboard player was good. But let's face it every concert we go to has some sort of solo piece for the band. Why? I don't need to hear them alone I need to hear them making music! I have to listen to myself play guitar each day by myself!

And as for Stevie losing his mum? It is sad but with a few thousand in the audience probably having gone through the same it doesn't need to be said in such length. We all suffer loss. It's not a nice thing for any of us.

And finally, who the fuck was that that wondered on stage to show Stevie that award? It may be the start of some racial intolerance week but I don't need to know. I'm not racist, it doesn't bother me! I've paid £130 for two tickets to hear music and to listen to Stevie Wonder, not some unknown from Brum waffle on about some footballer. Really felt like a discount was in order at that part of the show. Also poor old Stevie and his band with their support for Barak Obama(?). I'm English so why do I give a f? We've got our own bunch of incompetent leaders without caring that America is finally picking a token black guy to show that race is no longer an issue. As if.

So would I go to another Stevie show? Yes, but not this tour (unless it was half price).

Am I glad I went. Definately. I mean let's face it it's Stevie Wonder we're talking about here. Who else has done what he has? Fabulous songs, fabulous music, fabulous night

I'm surprised at that too. Here in Detroit--"Spain" got as much of a positive reaction as the rest of his hits! Detroit being a music town and definitely a JAZZ town, the musicianship was *definitely* appreciated. I personally know his trumpeter, Dwight Adams, and it was great to see that Stevie let he and the other musicians stretch out a bit.

I can't believe you didn't enjoy Stevie in Manchester. I went to Mr. Wonder in Rotterdam (Holland) yesterday, and it was.. AMAZING. Very nice setlist (see below). He didn't really talk that much, only little things about his mother and about how we should unite as one. Also he wanted the public to shout 'Barack Obama', which I didn't really like that much (why do that in concert and why in Holland?). Apart from that, he was amazing and I'm really happy I have seen him live.

But I agree, I would be emberassed to shout Barack Obama. He's really popular her ein Germany, and I'd liek him to be prsident and we all know how SW supports BO but he shouldn't ask his fans to sing BO!!

Saw him this summer and the set started off a little slow but a quarter of the way into it the people were up and dancing until the end.

I can see how someone would be disappointed with a lot of religious talk too. When that happens, I usually visit the ladies room. If people are actually hecking, maybe Stevie will change his show a little.

His sence of humor
and his gutts to throw his glasses off in front of 8000 or more people !!

Yes, the setlist was really nice! I was kinda surprised by 'As' though. Everybody thought the concert was over, and all of a sudden Stevie started singing As. Also, during Superstition, Stevie sang So What the Fuss which I forgot to write down.

I saw Stevie in Manchester the same night and he totally blew my mind absolutely amazing.

I loved the first half of the show where he played some obscure songs-it really showed what an amazing vocalist and instrumentalist he is. Plus it made the hits bit at the end even more of a surprise by the last hour everyone in the stadium was up dancing, I left there on a high!

His show was like a lesson in how to do a gig real back to basics, no fireworks, costume changes, stunts just stevie, his band and great music!

By the way I thought he was great on Johnathon Ross, he made the show bearable, compared to the likes of Abi Clancy, I felt insulted for Stevie that he even had to share the green room with such a no mark.

He was good humoured, charismatic and charming, not just a great musician but a really nice human being also.
