Have the Neptunes lost their magic??

I think something's missing. Many songs aren't even released (the stuff with Usher for example) because they think the songs aren't good enough. And that's true.
I think their peak was long ago. Madonna brought the very best of PW (I think he wrote some of his best melodies)...
The early 2000s were best, right? What do you think, will they go on and on and on?? Or will hey quit?
I mean, that's what happened to every producer. Quincy, Neil Rodgers... they will be old fashioned one day. I hope people will get bored by Timbaland very soon.

I like most of The Neptunes productions, including the unreleased ones

Vanessa Marquez- Want You To Know

Natasha Ramos- In The Midnight Hour

I like them too...nothing wrong with them other than the sound is changing and they cant seem to get a hit anymore these days. I really loved their production with madonna. "I Know" on JayZ's American Gangster was top notch..probably their last notable hit. Give It Up by Twista was nice too...but went nowhere.

I liked some of his production with Usher especially "Dont Take It Personal" was HOT. I caouldnt believe it wasnt on Here i Stand..but after hearing it...it wouldnt have fit in.

with T Pain, Akon, and Timbaland crowding up the airwaves, how can you get a hit? lol

Rumours has it that even though they've lost their magic,
they still own a few meager magical leftovers in their pockets:
- a short circuited wand (useless)
- a dried up magic potion (powerless)
- the tiny stubs of a hundred or so magic candles
- and a few last handfuls of magic feed corn (just junk) that can make reindeer fly.

The Vanessa Marquez track is hot. Whatever happened to her? I thought she had an album coming out. I liked her song on the Presents disc tool.

They've always had good moments and bad moments. I thought they were done for a bit and I was hesitant about Madonna, but it turned out way better than I thought. I think he should work with MJ and then take a break while still on top.

No no no no nooo..... Jay Z Just Blaze and Kanye are a force to be reckoned with..with a song or 2 by the Neptunes. But Jay Z and those rare old underground r&b cuts go together like white on rice.

Yeah Just Blaze is underrated, they work really well as a team.

On a diffrent note listen to this. Its just stripped of vocals. The Neptunes do create some outstanding work that is like nothing really done before. http://www.youtube.com/wa...qUWG25RZ_0

why do you think this paper?? I think 4 Minutes, Miles Away and Dance Tonight are some od PW best melodies ever!!!

no, just joking. But I think Heartbeat is one of his pettierst melodies, If you dislike Madonna, just imagine Kelis or someoene singing it.

I still like the Neptunes. There I've said it. I like their beats but most of all I like the dreamy almost ambient sound they have on some of their songs. Their chord progressions work well for me especially seguing into bridges.

They may not be as strong as creative as they were and a bit overused at this point but I still have a place for them.

I think that they are just really weak tracks. I also think if Madonna had less control over the creation of the music and left it to The Neptunes, it could be so much better, It sounds second hand compared to anything they have done with Britney and Gwen. Gwen and PW really have create some of the most amazing pop tracks of the last few years, that has made its mark in pop .

funny you think Madonna had too much control. Most say it was the different case. But I don't know how you think she took control over let's say Heartbeat. PW wrote the whole song except the lyrics. Also the heartbeat as a beat was missing on his demo.

it's all about timing. everybody has their moment in the sun. they had to part ways with those chopped snares & clavichords sooner or later. they're sound has always been "out there", "hit" or "miss".
