And as Kanye West closes this show i have realized what i have said all along

Kanye is Puff Daddy, same flow, same concept.

and Christina Aguilera you are not in Danity Kane, and give back the leather suit to PCD because you arent in that group either

and to all these shows, stop booking KID ROCK as your only ROCK act he is not fucking ROCK!!

And please stop calling this Britneys comeback, its not a comeback.

Maybe I'm getting older cuz I never watch MTV anymore but I used to lose sleep over being excited for the VMA's...It's so sad to see my favorite awards show be so fucking lame anymore. Is it the lack of iconic artists? Trite shit being passed on as music? I just dont 'speak the same language' as many of these people on this show...

Back in the day EVERYONE made it a point to be a part of the show somehow...every huge star, up and coming act..were all there and the show was exciting and dangerous....

Tonight it felt like the Teens Choice Awards...

Being that this was the 25th Anniversary and could not fill the show up with great collabos frm the past and now and bring back some of the most unforgettable people...it was just lame....
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Totally which is why i pointed out early in this thread of how 25 years Ago on the first show David Bowie won the best Male Video and this year Chris Brown won it, the point to that was the fact that Bowie back when he won was in his late 30's early 40's and was still getting his play, Chris Brown and the nominees tonite in this category were all under 25? There in is the issue.

And to further the lack of relevance MTV has it couldnt get one act back to show up, construct duets, etc...this was there chance to gain back a little cred, not alot because they suck, but at least do something to shake it up.

I don't understand why mtv overlaped some performaces with commmercials. They showed the end of the song. It's like they don't know how to put an awards show together. I like Pink's performance. The others were very boreing.

And the thing is one performance, Lupe Fiasco was a chance to give some real hip hop a shot on the show, instead of the bling/minstrel show shit. And why eliminate Katy Perry? since they spoke of her nonstop in promos? and it was the so called "hit of the summer" for the network? its like no one is even thinking at that place

Im sure the ratings dropped like a stone after she was in the opening part, the same thing happend last year too. But of course the network will tout the show as a ratings BOOST but the thing they wont say is that they lost half the viewers the second Britney left the stage. This is why they tried to keep it a secret she wasnt going to perform.

This show was wack! whofarted disbelief The whole program looked like a second rate awards show, from putting into a studio soundstage to the lame musical acts. I have to admit that I didn't watch the whole show; I was flipping between the VMA's and Sunday Night Football, watching my Bears pull the miracle upset on the Indianapolis Colts. woot!

More things i realized changing back and forth and catching this show

Paramore or whatever they are a Rock Band? Really? Rock?

The producers of this show (if there are any) cant even capitalize on something. Example: Katy Perry has the "so called" "Song of the Summer" and yet they dont show her performance, they let it overlap a commercial?

I hope that Elephant that T Pain rode in on gets loose and tramples that Spencer dick from the Hills or that Chase or Brody guy, thye deserve to die just for those names, as George Carlin would say, those are not REAL names.

that Audrina chick from the Hills has one purpose in life, SEX

Christina Aguilera needs to chill on the eyeliner, she looks like Aubrey from Danity Kane.

Whats with this whole Jonas Brothers thing?

Jordin Sparks is fucking annoying and needs to go already
MTV needs to cancel itself

Dude, I know that the dudes from "The Hills" are annoying douchebags, but what's with the hostility? They deserve to die? no no no! Lighten up already.

Having said that, tonight's awards show is the result of MTV ignoring their musical roots and over-relying on pointless reality shows. They no longer break any new music, and as a result, they have no authority on any coolness or hipness in the pop culture world. What sad is that groups like the Ting Tings and Tokyo Hotel should be getting airplay but the only way people know about them is because their music is getting played in commercials. If a backlot Hollywood soundstage is the best MTV can do to host an awards show, then they need to cancel this already.

The show is not the same anymore. They need to change the people who set up the awards. They change the stage set up and the place every year is not helping. No podium and a werid stage area. Instead of having lil Wayne and Rihanna come on two time they could have had Katy Perry and Lupe Fiasco perform and not cut their proformace. Why give lil Wayne two full proformaces and cut off Fiasco? I am not a fan of Perry but they hyped up her proformace then cut it off.

Yeah they do deserve to get run over by the elephant that T Pain brought in, no one should be named Spencer or Brody or Chase? that goes for Jenner too. Its not hostility, this was a piece of the late great George Carlin's immense comedy legacy. (the last great comedian btw)

Yeah i totally agree on the Lil Wayne/Rihanna overfreakingkill already and its interesting that Katy Perry and Lupe actually had a live musician behind them , where as almost no other performer did?

It's a bore fest in my opinion. It's geting worst not better. No one should be surpised, they are really a reality network now not a music one. They can't find a happpy medium between music shows and reality shows. They need to revamp the VMAs and the network.

OMG...I can not believe the show was actually held in a studio soundstage.falloff

I remember one year when the Soul Train Award Show was held in the same soundstage studio that the Soul Train Dance Show was recorded. None of the big name stars attended...the next year it was announced that there would be no more Soul Train Award Show.

Perhaps the same thing will happen to the VMAs.

The fact that the MTV awards were dismal is a reflection of the music industry today. The days when real artist graced the stage are long gone. The ratings for the MTV awards have been low for years, which is the reason I believe they allowed an obviously troubled Britney spears open the VMA's last year. I was happy to see her looking well, body and weave tight again. I admit, Britney Spears is a guilty pleasure of mine, I was rooting for her last year (and was very dissappointed) and I am happy to see her looking well and getting her life back in order (hell with K Fed, Britney's dad shoud be voted father of the year). I enjoyed Rihanna's Grace Jonesesque performance as well as Kanye West. Other that that, I would've done better watching Desperate Housewives reruns. Very poor show for a 25th anniversary. The only way MTV awards could've impressed me for their anniversary show would of been if they could've had the three 50 year old icons that made MTV relevant together (wishful thinking).

Love Kanye's new song, he's a decent singer.

Xtina was absolutely pathetic. First she goes and ruins the song that made her famous, then she jacks Lady Gaga's and Gwen Stefani's style/moves/sound, then to top it all off the apparent "voice of our generation" LIP SYNCS!

Excuse me but spit @ this pathetic, overrated attempt at an icon!

that was horrid confused

the host was annoying as fuck who wasn't funny. he also had an obsession with the jonas brothers not having sex eek

Rihanna's performance was decent. her voice was way off but atleast it was watchable.

i actually liked Xtina's performance. it was great to make fun of.

they were overhyped Britney. "she's opening the show!!!" but all she did was smile and sit back down. lovely neutral

the rap performances were embarressing. Lil Wayne looked disgusting, with his shirt off and pants fallin down disbelief T Pain really is a modern day minstrel show. ugh ill

Kid Rock was boring!!!!! booooo take yo country ass back to trailer.

i can't believe how bad that show was. I used to be excited about the VMAs but now it's become a parody of itself. and omg, could that venue be any smaller? omfg
cream.
